The 5.11series is good stuff, I got several pants, polo and tac. vest and they are confortable, convenient, tuff as nail but the down point is they are high profile.
If you see a guy in 5.11, you've got great chance to see a contractor, or someone else in the business.
A friend of mine own some HRT boots, socks and a 3-in-1 jacket, and it's very confortable and rugged.
Great stuff but a bit pricy

not for 511's but similar lines, you do stand out when you wear them, not too keen on the execution of the 3in1 jacket, the vest is OK, the Crye vest is a better execution but more than double the price.

I've got a bunch of the 5.11 trousers, wear 'em everyday for work. The new ones have moved the "cell phone" pocket from the right to left side, added reinforcement at the 4 pocket corners (wear you'd carry your pocket folder), and added some dye stuff to make the color last longer. They also make a fast drying model - sort of like Columbia's guide trousers. When they were still "Royal Robbins" the fabric seemed softer and the new regular weight are supposed to be the same. Also, if you are going to ground a bunch the hidden knee pads are cool, too.
Their polos are great. The quick dry shirt is nice, but one from Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops are just as comfortable but cheaper. Of course you don't get the hidden holster. I reviewed their boots, and they are supposed to send some for a test. The ones with the anti-scuff toe cap are made to rival the Addidas GSG9 boot and seemed pretty cool, had a better tread than the GSG9.
One note, my stuff is issued by my agency so I don't have to pay for it. If I was buying my own stuff, I buy the cargos from Cabelas, cheaper price just as solid.
Last thing, as stated, they are hi profile: I was at an airport recently and got in line behind a guy wearing tan 5.11s, Merrell hiking boots, a black North face fleece, a Rolex Submariner carrying a tan Camelback pack with a black 'biner in the straps. I was just as conspicuous carrying my Galco fanny pack, & we both knew it. It was pretty funny...

Royal Robbins still markets a softer "civvie" version of the 5.11 pant called the "Half Dome Pant". Same pattern as 5.11 trousers but available in different colors. I have a few pairs of their trousers and a 5.11 long sleeve shirt. The shirt is awesome, and can be worn as a light jacket too.
I haven't used anything else with the "5.11 Tactical" label...
Someone mentioned seeing a guy wearing 5.11 pants as a giveaway; pretty true... ;)
