Yeah, I found them with the story of the October ambush of the Duchifat guys. The Second picture earlier, from today, shows IDF guys in civies and armor; quite interesting.

Say, the barrel of that M4/203 has what appears to be gas ports or some sort of shroud, what is it....

Thanks.

Yeah, the pictures were with the story of the October ambush of the Duchifat guys. not to nit pick here but those pics go back way before October.

The Second picture earlier, from today, shows IDF guys in civies and armor; quite interesting. yeah those aren’t regular infantry soldier per say. Their more like investigators who have to put on bullet proof jackets and helmets for their work is in a very dangerous area.

Plus a few of them could also be some undercover operators as well.

Say, the barrel of that M4/203 has what appears to be gas ports or some sort of shroud, what is it.... well first of all, that’s a CAR15/M203 and not a M4 version of it. The Israeli army has a lot of M4’s now but that picture is not one of them.

Secondly yes that is a sort of shroud (if I understand the English term correctly) for this weapon. I didn’t realise that this is only on Israeli versions of this weapon. Is that true??

you missed the RIS on that M4 while most SF units use the M33 handguard (with the discrete rail) althought I could be wrong.

what are those camo "headnets" the idf soldiers wear sometimes?

IDFM203
11-03-2003, 06:29 PM
what are those camo "headnets" the idf soldiers wear sometimes? its a camouflage webbing that distorts the round shape of the helmet.

It’s called in Hebrew “mitsnefet” which actually means in English clown hat (but hey it works :D )

The helmet has a distinctive round shape which can expose your position in the field, so this webbing cover helps in distorting its shape and helping to blend you in more into the field.

(My avatar pic is better example of the use of this cover)
