I'm sure that someone has asked this before, but I'm going to ask it again, in hopes that you fellows won't mind helping out.

Who owns a Hellcat and can tell me the pros/ cons of them? I've looked around for reviews and I can't find many. How does it stack up to a TT MAV?

Thanks

Contact Sparky, he's estatic about his. I'm still waiting for mine to come in. But I chose the Hellcat over the TT MAV because I don't absolutely need to fill it up with pouches, and the internal pouches are a +.

inspect the seams where the straps meet the body of the hellcat to check for proper reinforcement.

you may run into flap snap fit issues if you are running Magpuls or RangerPlates.

The internal carriage is a good ideam My preference is for the version 2 HC

of course if money is not an option then go for it

Otherwise the MAV is an excellent choice and when it comes right down to it, internal magazine carriage is a + or - according to personal preferences.

having said that, the MAX with an Xharness is an excellent base to start from.

I love my hellcat, its works wonderfully, my friend has the TT MAV, and it’s a fine piece of equipment as well. The only problem with his MAV (with X-Harness) is that it’s a royal pain in the rump to take off and put on. The internal Hellcat pouches are very useful as well, it makes it easier to carry a lot of ammo/accessories and still get pretty flat to the ground (a very important thing sometimes). I also have the bib for it but that has been pretty useless because putting pouches on the bib tends to black access the pouches right below them. The only advantages to the MAV that I can see are that it’s cheaper and you can get the X-Harness which allows you to mount a radio on the shoulder pads (you would need to spend a lot more money for that with the Hellcat). Again though, I have been very impressed with the quality, comfort and utility of my Hellcat, it works like a charm and I'd get it again in a second. (For what it’s worth I have almost exclusively put Tactical Tailor pouches on my hellcat which I use for an AR-15 series rifle.)

Would you say the bib is a pointless purchase?

What's a "Hellcat"? I opened this thread thinking it was about WWII US Navy FIghters, but it was not.

It's a modular rig (http://www.specopstech.com/st/catalog1.asp?view=product&id=1044) with internal magazine pockets made by SOTech.

Having owned both
I would choose the Hellcat over the MAV.
It is built stronger.
With the MAV the Xharness is a must for it to be comfortable at all.
I have used it with both the one piece and split 2 piece MAV, and highly recommend it.
Don't get me wrong, the MAV is a great rig, but I find the Hellcat with hydration harness alot more comfortable. Price wise the MAV wins as you can buy 2 for the price of a hellcat.

Right now the only thing I use my bib for externally is to hold my GMRS radio. If you really need room than it's not useless, but between the internal pockets (6) and my external mag pouches (4 TT Single 5.56) I can hold 10 magazines and still be very low bulk and have plenty of space for the rest of my pouches. Tactical Tailor just started making a bib for the MAV as well I think.
You can get a back piece for the Hellcat that more comfortable straps, MOLLE on the back and straps, and a hydration pouch for around $100. For the $40 you can probably skip the bib.
If your using this just for airsoft you might want to save the money, get the MAV and if you're really pressed for space get TT's large modular leg rig for $35, the price difference is as Sepper said pretty big.
