Jep, Australia is using them as well as the UK. The UK adopted the AW50F for Bomb Disposal teams intented to use on large UXOs in situations where its difficult to get near the UXO. The ammunition is supposed to be tungsten cored, and one type has an incendiary filling.
A very nice rifle, where can I try one out? :D

yeah well the ADF uses a new ammuntion:
As part of the acquisition of the anti-materiel rifle, the ADF has brought into service a new .50cal round.
The operational ammunition is made by a company called Nammo and is known as NM140.
This is a multi-purpose round that allows Army to engage the full target array, which includes personnel, light armoured vehicles, field fortifications and boats.
The match-grade ammunition is a combination of penetrator, HE and an incendiary effect all in one round.

Anyone know what the AW50 is called in the British Army?
The AI .338 Lapua Magnum is called L115, right? (Guttorm: Lapua, another Scandinavian company :D Is Scandinavia taking over the sniper business? Come to think of it, Sako (yet another Scandinavian company) makes decent sniper rifles as well.

I know the AW50 has been trailed by the Royal Engineers and Royal Navy as a replacement for the Barret. I'm not aware of it having been formally accepted into service - that said, in my current job I'm a bit behind the curve on that side of life.
If anyone can confirm that it has been accepted and can give the designation, be my guest.

Royal, here's the story for you:
http://www.army.mod.uk/news/Year_2003/EOD_rifle.htm
ARMY BOMB DISPOSAL TO GET NEW .50 CALIBRE RIFLE
British Army Bomb Disposal teams are to receive a new .5in (12.7mm) rifle, firing a range of sophisticated ammunition designed to pierce bomb casings and ignite the explosive inside - allowing it to burn off harmlessly.
http://www.army.mod.uk/img/news/50cal.jpg
The new system comprises an Accuracy International AW50F .5in bolt-action rifle, fitted with a high powered telescopic sight, a laser rangefinder and a spotting Scope. The system, which has also been adopted by the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, is intended for use on large air-dropped bombs, typically larger than 225kg, and will be used where it would be difficult to approach the bomb due to the presence of obstacles or other unexploded ordnance. The ammunition is tungsten-cored, and one type has an incendiary filling.
No mention about the designation though.
