A judge awarded them the money, they should get it.

Yes, but they should get it from Saddam's personal funds and offshore accounts, or from the cash he swindled from the UN food program.
They shouldnt get it from the people that are trying their damndest to make Iraq a new and hopeful country.

I hate to say it guys....and my heart definitly goes out to these pilots, but these guys joined up under their own volition. They knew sh*t could happen, i mean everybody knows horrible things could happen in war. Iraq could really, really use this billion dollars. The faster we get Iraq rebuilt, set up, and leave the quicker we can save American lives.
ALthough i am sure the torture these pilots recieved was atrocious, perhaps they could wait, till Iraq can work under it's own power...

The thing is, a judge granted them the money, already.

So the prisoners in Abu Ghriab that were abused by American soldiers will be able to sue the US for a billion dollers too?

The thing is...the Iraqi's that were supposedly abused WILL get compensation while America's own service personal who were abused will get nothing.
The message America is sending out to its own servicemen is that you can go in harms way but if something goes wrong dont come to us looking for help.

If i understood correctly that is exactly the point.
Iraqis not treated along the geneva guidelines by US soldiers can sue,
US soldiers not treated along geneva guidelines by Iraqi soldiers cannot.
Now the one argument is that the Iraqis tortured may not have been soldiers.
Anyway , it does have a nasty doubel standard taste.
