We in Israel have read about your "allies" the French, Belgians and Germans turning their backs on you. We see that your "partners" like China and Russia express disdain for your nation. We in Israel will never do so. We are a tiny nation. We have no oil or resources other than God, our hearts and our minds. But you have taken us under your great Eagle's Wing and nurtured and protected our country against the hordes of our enemies.
We have fought our own battles with our own blood, but you have never let us down and never turned your back to us. We will never forget you and your kindness. Never. If you need us, America, we have your back. We may be few, but we can fight. And if you call on us, fight we shall. Your nation is about to embark upon yet another battle for freedom and liberty. The people who hate liberty and hate achievement, hate us and hate you.
But their hatred can never overcome your greatness, America. You will conquer the evil Saddam and maybe, God willing, you will change the face of the Middle East and start the process of bringing democracy to the Arab world.
Many ask why our country supports this war when we are a likely target of Saddam's death throes. There are two reasons. One is that you are our ally and we return your loyalty as you have loyally supported us. I suppose many in Europe are too cynical to understand such concepts as honor and loyalty.
The second reason is more theoretical. We can not negotiate with the Arabs. Until a majority of Arab nations are democracies, we can never have real peace with them. If you are able to accomplish your mission, you will help bring peace to the region and the world.
I am a soldier of Israel. I was born in Israel and in Israel I shall die. If that means I shall die with a rifle in my hand defending Israel, so be it. And if called upon by my country to defend our American friends, I will gladly shed my blood for you as well. America. . . Israel stands ready!
I don't know 100% that this is a true letter - I haven't been able to find the original source (i.e The Messenger) anywhere online, but I thought I'd post it here anyway - the sentiment is true for many Israelis.
True, true Golan, you're making me reconsider my views on the Israeli - Palestinian conflict (war). I've never heard of Israelis bad mouthing the US, but I have sure seen the pics of the Palestinians burning the US flag, those bastards. Come to think of it, weren't those mo fo's dancing and celebrating after 9/11? Yep, they sure were.

When my father came back to the states both he and my mother went to israel. I think it was a vacation with some friends. Before I was born.
When I was 19 I came close to israel (Greece :) good food, good girls)
what are nightclubs called in israel? it does not have to be a nightclub but just a place where younger ppl hand-out? The reason I'm asking is because mom said things about something like a nightclub but I cant remember what she call it.

USA supports Israel blindly due to the massive lobby groups over there.
Now I know your response will be either:
A: Die you commie bastard or
B: Way to hi jack the thread ****wad
Pffft, fact of life kiddies - no country on earth gives a **** about the other with out some financial or political reason.
Please tell me you are not naive enough to believe that the USA supports people because it's warm and fuzzy?

Ok Ill go with C although your B is true as well ;)
Yes the U.S. supports Israel for its interests as well but it just happens to be that our interests for the most part are mutually beneficial.
besides the U.S. is in the habit and rightfully so of supporting and helping nations that share the same values.
I find your Jewish lobby insinuation to be laughable. Yes they are influential but not to where the U.S. gives over three billion a year to.

I want to note for the record, that I stated ALL countrys are self serving in their collective interests (I'm getting that one in before I'm hounded by the crazy militants).
My comments are directed towards people who for some reason believe that there is nothing but good will that backs an alliance of the magnitude between Israel and USA.

true in general but with the U.S. there is an added effort. If it were purely about U.S. interests it wouldn’t do half of the good things that it does. You might be blind to it but the fact is that the U.S. in a lot of cases goes way beyond its self-interests

With all do respect to the USA, in the Independence Day I rise only the Israeli flag.
That's perfectly fair. I only fly an American flag on July 4--not the flags of any allies. A country's independence day is always first and foremost about that country itself, regardless of what country you are discussing. But the fact that many Israelis fly American flags regularly, or somehow recognize July 4, is remarkable in itself. I can assure you I've never heard of significant July 4 celebrations in London or Paris.

Yes. The Israeli people love America and some of them waving USA flag side by side of an Israeli flag.
The friendship with the USA is far more than mere sharing of interests, as the American public opinion is far more pro-Israeli than the public opinion in Europe. Also to note is that the first American settlers in the New World sometimes refered to themselves as "Zionists" or as the "Founders of New Zion".

There's no doubt the term "Zion" has had meaning to lots of different people. Many African-American leaders and philosophers (especially in the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century) found strength in the story of Moses and the Hebrew peoples escaping Egypt. In previous generations, names like "Abraham" and "Moses" were common among African-Americans. And let's not forget that R&B singer/rapper Lauryn Hill named her son "Zion." In another song, she refers to her childhood neighborhood as "the new Jerusalem."

It is always good to hear of anyone giving credit to the US for the risks we take. If you really think about it.. Israel is in a really bad light right now and for the US to continue to back them is not exactly good PR. Contrary to popular belief, we don't really care. ROK has always backed us too and throughout the past several decades been truly faithful ally to us. They didn't always like our policies, probably didn't like our leadership, but they treat our vets better than we do. Again, good to hear Israeli Joes showing their respect to us. Seeing eye to eye may never happen but mutual respect between us will always be there.

I would fly the american flag every day too if the USA was giving my country 10 billions USD every year free of any charge, unlimited access to US weapons, free satellite intel, free nuke and integration of nuke weapons in subs while all the while conducting spying operations in mainland US...
At that price, the least they can do is be comprehensive and supportive...

I would fly the american flag every day too if the USA was giving my country 10 billions USD every year free of any charge, 10 billion?? I mean while your making up stuff you might as well say 20 or 30.
No Israel gets 3 billion a year……
unlimited access to US weapons, yes and it falls under that 3 billion. Btw the same is true for the U.S., which gets that same access to Israeli weapons which are serous player now in the world market. Israel is now ranked the forth largest arms PRODUCER in the world and you can find Israeli military technology permeated throughout the U.S. military.
free satellite intel, actually that’s not exactly true…… Israel relies on its own home produced Satellites for its intelligence.
Lets not forget that the whole pollard fiasco was because Israel wasn’t getting satellite information from the U.S.
free nuke and integration of nuke weapons in subs free nuke?? The U.S. didn’t give Israel a single nuke……….. It gave Israel missiles which the Israelis have modified to be able to carry its own nuclear war heads.
I mean the U.S. has all sorts of Israeli missiles as well.
while all the while conducting spying operations in mainland US... I am not going to justify Israel spying in the U.S. and I admit it is wrong but all I will say is that the U.S. also spies on Israel as does all friendly nations in this world that actually spy on each other. You need to get off your high horse here when your own country also spies on friendly nations as well.
Secondly Israel did not spy on the U.S. per say but rather stole information from the U.S. on Israel’s enemies.
At that price, the least they can do is be comprehensive and supportive... the point is that Israel is very appreciative and supportive while other countries that the U.S. has given money to or actually puts its troops in harms way for their protection have not been supportive or appreciative. The Arab countries that receive money also at the same time burn the U.S. flag and dance on sept 11. South Korea which owes its very modern existence and its awesome economy to the U.S. due to its troop presence has rallies where over a hundred thousand people are chanting anti U.S. slogans and they too are burning U.S. flags. Europe which was saved from the nazi’s because of the help that the U.S. provided and have not been under the soviet union influence due to the U.S. military presence which has allowed these nations to have prosperous economies are for the most part unappreciative and ungrateful and not supportive.
The world owes plenty to the U.S. but yet spits in its face!!!!!!!!!!!
btw are you french????
Shalom :D

As found on Google after a quick search...US money for Israel this year
The guarantees, part of a 10-billion-dollar aid package for Israel, will be made through the US Agency for International Development (USAID), according to a notice published in the Federal Register on Monday. According to a recent report by the Congressional Research Service U.S. aid to Israel will surpass a cumulative total of $90 billion this year.
87 Bn for Iraq, 90 for Israel...that's what I call equality

Secondly that other billions is a loan, which Israel will pay back!! It is not free money.
But again this is not a yearly occurrence at all.
Israel gets three billion a year.

Palestinian Officials Quash Pictures of Arab Celebrations
Thursday, September 13, 2001
By Catherine Donaldson-Evans
Foxnews.com
The Palestinian Authority has warned journalists they might be in danger if they continue to use images of Arabs celebrating Tuesday’s terrorist attacks.
PA officials allegedly have threatened journalists who continue to show Palestinians rejoicing and dancing at the news of the devastation caused by hijacked jets in New York City, Washington and Pennsylvania.
The Foreign Press Association of Israel said the PA sent armed police to block camera crews from photographing Tuesday’s rally in the West Bank town of Nablus -- where thousands filled the streets to celebrate.
In addition, PA officials have reportedly phoned TV stations and other media to caution them their safety would be in jeopardy if they aired the segments.
Officially, Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat condemned the hijackings that demolished the World Trade towers in New York, damaged the Pentagon in Washington and claimed thousands of victims. Arafat publicly criticized Tuesday’s acts of terrorism soon after word of the Arab celebrations leaked.
The images of exuberant, cheering Palestinians – some of them children and teens – when they heard news of the tragedies angered and horrified people worldwide.
As early as Tuesday afternoon, TV stations everywhere were broadcasting footage of revelers in the streets of Jerusalem and Nablus, in refugee camps and in coffee shops. Some joyously fired rifles in the air, laughed, handed out sodas and candy and made signs of victory with their fingers.
Most American networks, including Fox News Channel, aired the images.
In addition, many newspapers, magazines, Web sites and wire services ran photographs of the festivities.
The Associated Press would not confirm reports that it had stopped broadcasting film of the celebrations. "I have nothing to say about this matter at this time," AP Israel Bureau Chief Dan Perry told The Jerusalem Post.
But one foreign correspondent told the Post that AP producers had been threatened by PA Cabinet Secretary Abdel Ahmed Rahman, who told them their safety couldn’t be guaranteed if they insisted on broadcasting the images.
Characterizing the threats against such footage and photos as "censorship," the Foreign Press Association of Israel released a statement expressing its "deep concern over the harassment of journalists by the Palestinian Authority."
"We strongly condemn the direct threats made against local videographers by local militia members and the attitude of Palestinian officials who made no effort to counter the threats, control the situation or guarantee the safety of the journalists and the freedom of the press," the FPA said.
The FPA also said it holds the Palestinian Authority fully responsible for the safety of journalists working in areas under its jurisdiction.

Or maybe everybody should write in Ebonics, it would be so much easier don't you think?
As for Egypt and Jordan, you use the typical diversionary technic when dealing with anything related to Israel, i.e "Israel does this, but what about such and such that does that".....
So tiring....it reminds me of unemployement TV coverage in Europe; "Unemployement is high in Germany, but look, it's SO much higher in Spain..." phewww, feels much better to know the situation is worse somewhere else.
But still no solution to the original problem
