Did anyone catch the guy who got caught on fire and runs out of the building and starts rolling on the ground? Does any know if he was a US Marine or a British Royal Marine. I dont think he got too burnt.

Yeah it was on dateline yesterday. It looked like a British guy. All of the yelling by him and others had that distinct accent. :|

Yeah, it was Royal Marines. Yesterday there was what must have been a five minute report on CNN about it. They followed those RM's around all day.

Those flightsuits help with that :cantbeli: That would suck to get caugh on fire for a second, you know your buds would be laughing at you later over some beers if you were ok.

Well, luckily there were 4-5 guys who helped him get out of the building fast and helped him roll around in the sand to put him out. With ammunition strapped to your body, being on fire is potentially bad for everyone around you. :)

I believe a round struck a gas cylinder within the building during FIBUA clearance. The RM suffered serious burns in the incident.

It was the Ba'ath part headquarters for that area.
They were Royal Marines from 42 Commando, filmed by a cameraman who had been following them all day
After putting in some MMG/LMG and rifle fire they moved in and started clearing it with grenades
They chucked one grenade into a room with a gas bottle and presumably the guy who came running out was to be the first in
In he goes and up the building goes in smoke.

UK papers have named the marine involved, and stated he is to be brought back to Birmingham UK, for specialist treatment. Claiming that the burns were caused by a a gas canister that exploded during the assault on the militia building..
