So why World Series are called World Series? It's only one country participating, not half of the globe.

Back in 1903 the only country playing baseball as a major sport was the US. So it was justified to call it the World Series.

I understand that, but if USA is the only major country playing baseball, then why isn't World Series called American Series? In "World Championship" in soccer for example, "World" is there for a reason, because there are multiple countries playing, not just 1.

Because there is an American League in baseball. The other is National. The 3 best teams from each league (plus two wild card teams) go to the playoffs.

Vladi has pretty much carried the Expos past few years, eh?

I like Roger Clemens.

So Canadians make up the country #2. Therefore maybe it should be called North American Series :] I understand "World Series" as at least 10 countries participating.

Because MLB recruit the best ball player from all over the globe to play for us. A lot of MLB ball players are not even American citizens or green card immigrants.

It's Europe's attempt to make it sound like the rest of the world gives a hoot!
