Here goes.

Gilette has recently put forth a new product here in sweden, their new razor M3 which is batterydriven. My dad just bought one and all it seems to do is vibrate a little bit.

Is there any kind of scientific evidence that the it actually helps your shaving. Exactly what does it do?

I checked out the design and it seems like the vibration connects to the razorblade but does it help anything. I would like to see some thirdparty science on this subject, since i wouldn't trust gilettes own scientific data.

Altough i remebered seeing this british tv-show about guys trying to improve different inventions. And one of their ideas was a razorblade exactly like the M3 design. But they couldn't get it to work because the vibrations wasn't fast enough or something to tune in with the actually razors.

So what do you think?

Revolutionary new shaving system

or

Junk just to get people to buy new shaving tools that are more expensive and more dangerous to the enviroment.

Post your opinion and if you can find some scientific data on the subject.

I have searched but havn't been able to find any.
(Me and google don't go together all that well)

I have one. The idea is that it makes the hair "stand up" so it's easier to cut.

Theres a new shaving "innovation" every year or so, but I still manage to shave with a normal razor without any problems. It's usually just marketing hype.

I think it's just a ploy to get you to pay twice as much for a razor. I'd stick with the plain old M3.

I used an M3 for about 2 years or so. It's a great razor, but you need to use extra effort get against the fine grain which is flush with the side of the face. I'd imagine that the vibration action is similar to what the effect in electric razors. I've been using an electric razor for a few months now, and I notice that if you rub your face or somehow stimulate your face, the hairs will stick up or get more tensile. It's easier to shave when doing that.

I don't think it's a gimmick, or it wouldn't succeed in the market. Why spend more money if it doesn't do anything?

teh mach 3 is a good razor overall but i dodnt get all these new models coming out, i mean mach 3 mach 3 turbo mach 3 turbo turbo electric shocking vibrating bull **** deal. what ever happened to a razor being a razor. i use the regular mach 3 and have been doing so since it as introduced a few years ago. its a good razr, why improve something that isnt broke. also why do they make the refills so expensive an electric razor would be a hell of oalot cheaper than having to buy 20 cartridges for 30 dollars(american) and having them dull in 2 uses. jeeze..now that i see that im going to by me an electric razor on payday

I have one of those from my grandfather and use it only when I run out of razorblades for my other razors - the blood toll is just too high

I've got one. It doesn't make much difference. But when you shave without the vibration it seems really sstrange!

I really like shaving knives (the large single bladed ones).
If you think about it, they're like life in a really bad neighborhood: you mess up, you're dead!

I love my Gillette M3 power razor, now. I'll admit the first time I used it I brought my phone in the bathroom just incase I cut my throat open and needed to call 911.

Then why don't they work with the static electricity than this vibration that can easily be mistaken as a *** toy?

Their advertising says that those razors produce some kind of "static field" but I doubt that this is strong enough to erect those thick strong hairs.
Vibrating razors are as useless as the popes balls imho.
