Pretty standard stuff. The good and bad about our economic philosophy is the ability to create and destroy jobs. Industry doesn't bat an eye over firings and hirings. Its tied directly to the economic outlook. Looks good, hire more, looks bad start to fire. On the other hand European industries have a much more stable outlook. The downside to this is that industries are less likely to hire when times are good because they know how hard it is to fire and the associated costs involved. That is why you see such a disparity in unemployment between the States and Europe. We will have periods of were everybody is employed and periods of high unemployment. Europe stays flat(high) in this regard.
