I live in the Seattle, WA area and Profiles From the Front is not listed to come on in the next two weeks. Does anyone know anything about this?

I know that I miss the program. It is some of the best TV I have ever seen. I hope that the series will continue after the war is over, however I think it might confuse some viewers as to place and time. Many people seem to have real difficulty understanding names and dates or even reading. That doesn't stop me from hoping Profiles will come back or be released on video.

Well, according to the following article, it looks like it was barely on the air in the first place. This doesn't bode well...

ABC Trims Military 'Profiles' Series
Thu, Dec 12, 2002 10:22 AM PDT

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - A documentary series focusing on U.S. military personnel overseas is still looking for a home on ABC's schedule.

"Profiles from the Front Line," produced by the "Amazing Race" team of Bertram Van Munster and Jerry Bruckheimer, recently had its order cut from 13 to six episodes. Several of those episodes are ready to air, but ABC is still considering where to put them.

"We're trying to figure out strategically when it's best to place the show, and that depends on a lot of things," Andrea Wong, head of alternative series and specials for the network, tells The Hollywood Reporter. In addition to its own needs, ABC has to be sensitive to events in the world.

Most of the footage for "Profiles" was shot in the spring and summer and features soldiers stationed in Afghanistan and elsewhere around the world. Bruckheimer and Van Munster received the Pentagon's blessing to shoot the series.

That official sanction drew some complaints from journalists who claimed the crews for an entertainment series were getting access that newspeople weren't. The Pentagon says that it offered mostly technical advice and didn't influence content.

Wong says the order for the series was trimmed so ABC could present the most compelling stories in a concentrated period of time. "Profiles" will likely air sometime later this season.

I believe it's listed for this Thursday, normal time. I'm not sure, but I think it's going to be the episode that wasn't shown last Thurs. - I found this info on the ABC website a few days ago, so it may have changed.

ssardon, it's not listed on zap2it etc and other listings sites which supply tivo and other recording services, but Trigger's correct. And it's the episode that was supposed to air last week.. This is from their site just now. Zap2it might update today or tomorrow once they realize the change.

I checked TVGuide.com in my area for this week and it had News listed instead of Profiles, even though ABC's site shows the episode from last week airing.

This is aggrivating since it is one of the better shows on.

I just got an email back from a local ABC affiliate and they stated that Profiles has been canceled, but they are still unsure when/if the last three episodes will air. I personally think this is a total cop-out for ABC and it is unfair to the fans and also to the soldiers who are depicted. What does everyone think??? Email ABC with your thoughts.

This is pathetic... they're showing re-runs of who's line is it anyway instead of Profiles tonight.

Pathetic indeed!!

Time for all of us 'internet warriors' to go to war. As Supreme Commander, I hereby order all of you to email requests/complaints to ABC maybe they'll cave and show the remaining episodes. Either that or cough up the dough to buy 'em.

THIS SUCKS!! :cantbeli:

I just emailed their department and I'm awaiting a reply. To get to the point, why not show a program where our troops are profiled fighting a war against terrorism - especially in a time like this? Answer - apparently they want to show a repeat of a show that I personally feel is crap.

C'mon, ABC - get your heads out of your a$$es!!!

What does this say about the media/networks in this country? Every friggin' channel has some b.s. 'marry-my-hermaphrodite-half-brother/sister millionaire-on-a-deserted-island' so called reality show, but they yank the one show that comes close to actual reality after 3 episodes. TV blows. At least I had something to look forward to on a Thursday. Grrrrrr. (expletive left wing media!)

I heard on one of the entertainment news shows tonight that ABC has cancelled "Profiles"--meaning, I think, that they will not be airing any of the remaining episodes. I don't know if "official" confirmation is on the webiste. Networks usually don't advertise this sort of thing, so it may be available in the Entertainment section of Yahoo or Cnn. It's too bad Fox can't snap up the show and put it on after Cops or something.

No official change to ABC's page for "Profiles" (as of Monday the 31st - http://abc.abcnews.go.com/primetime/profiles/index.html), but considering their failure to effectively promote and support this program, the out-of-date website isn't surprising.

I'd suggest neglecting any futile comments to ABC. Considering the television content available on DVD, everything from American Idol recaps to 9/11 archives for sale at my grocery store coupled with Jerry Bruckheimer's standing in cinema and television we'd be better off going to the source, hoping the series is burned for DVD home release - http://www.jbfilms.com/ (can't immediately find any PR or e-mail link).

If ABC dropped the series, Bruckheimer likely still owns the rights.
