I actually enjoyed it as well but like I said before my favorite part would be the raid. Now did anybody else notice the SEAL commander back at HQ was a real SEAL and he was also featured on Combat Missions?

I thought the ambush itself was pretty good. All the drama was 'meh'....

it being a "movie", they should have called in air support and level the town. woot

It actually wasn't a bad movie if you ignore how much the media has been playing the whole situation. However, it didn't really focus on any heroids on PFC Lynch's part but rather emphasized the heroim on the part of the Iraqi lawyer. The ambush scene was relatively well done though I can't really comment on the accuracy and the rescue was probably true-to-life.

Overall, I think it was far better than I thought it would be. It made for an entertaining movie that seemed to mostly follow how things went.

I thought it was ok, but i thought the acting was pretty piss poor, and alot of it was cheesy. But i thought the SEALs looked cool, but where were the Rangers, they just forgot about them appearently, i would have liked to see the begening but missed it. Overall that situation makes me sick. I want to see a movie dedicated to the guys who will never walk again, or cant see anymore, or are paralyzed, their the ones who should be getting people to know theyre story, not some backwoods girl who was made famous because her convoy leader cant read a GPS or a map.

I taped it and watched it late last night... the ambush scene and lots of other stuff was probably highly dramatized given Lynch's traumatic amnesia and that there is little other knowledge of what happened.

I also watched a documentary (A&E I think) that indicated the Hummer she was in was actually hit by the RPG and crashed into the truck at a different point... between cab and trailer instead of the rear.

As for getting hurt in a car crash... war is filled with combat related casualties and fatalities not directly caused by enemy projectiles. Its not like they were driving to the PX and ran a red light. There have been a lot of aircraft crashes where occupants were never injured until gravity caught up with them.

I think Lynch's heroics were overblown by the media and the Army to some point, but I wouldn't wish her experience on anyone. The tragedy and sacrifice of the others in that Hummer that died as a result of the "crash" is certainly not lessened by the fact they were in a car crash.

The raid scene I thought was fairly well done. I am not certain as to the accuracy of the elements of the military used in the rescue since it is all based on informed speculation. The SFOD-D is perhaps the best trained unit for this type of rescue/extraction, but if consulted probably declined the raid. They have a real penchant for doing their own mission planning since the failed Desert One operation. At least that is my strong impression from reading Eric Haney's fine book. It probably was a SEAL unit that did the actual building assault, but the dramatization of their technique looked sloppy to me.

Overall, the movie was okay. It was obviously thrown together very fast and the actors were cast more for their likeness to the real subjects rather than their acting ability IMO.

WRONG!

The Hummer impacted the rear of a flatbed 5-ton. I saw the vehicles.

well, remember that she wasn't the only one that survived the ordeal, there were all those other POW's that could tell their stories.
