I was browsing a 2d and 3d art site and came across this one which was rather neat. Click the link below the pic to go there, where there's a hi-res version of it.

the only thing i have to say to that is the artist probably didn't think about left/right handedness. it's a fine piece of art.

most people aren't militarily knowledgable, they just like to draw, don't be reading too much into it...

I'm working on some paintings and drawings of Afghanistan and Iraq right now as a matter of fact. So is Trigger.

I'll be sure and get my facts straight by showing you guys first.

I read the crits of that piece on the site and a couple of people recognized the Dragunov being too large. It's a good composition but technically flawed. Nice colors though.

Hood, try gfxartist.com

Impressive stuff over there. Not very military oriented though. Unless you're an Orc. Heh.

Good point. The Rangers didn't use Unertl target scopes. The Marines did. They certainly weren't interchangeable with those Redfield low power jobs the Army used. That bothered me about that movie. Plus I can't imagine them allowing that over the top reverse hand bolt pull thing he was doing.

As art the piece was decent. As historically accurate art I doubt it was intended for that purpose.

ughh this artist have talent and little bit of technike(maybe more than litle bit) but that painting lacks of this "thing" for me it's "plastic" i'm not painter only musician(sp?) but i was a student of art school and i know meany better paintings moust of my friend and family are some kind of artists (or they do hicking or sailing or everything). So it isn't something special

After looking at it for a while, I'd have to say I like the painting. I viewed it as an almost 'comic book' style painting and not so much a technical illustration. Nothing wrong with that.

its pretty cool art and somewhat emotionally charged for subject. great atmosphere. sure he could be better, but who couldnt? i dig some military art from 7.62 design, its run by a former marine and some others. they used to have a site but now they are running thier business through brigade quartermasters.

I only noticed him being left handed, when he was in the tower near the end of the movie. I was kinda shook on the they he was shooting and i realized he was left handed.

JAckson was the coolest in that movie...
