One of the dead Iraqis has an exit wound on his side and there is no sign of an entry wound on his front, which leads me to believe that he was shot in the back......most likely while running away.......

if they were Iraqis standing around a dead GI you guys would freak...thats the point i am trying to make.

The fact that he was running away makes him no less of a target. Unless he is surrendering (and anyone who tries to surrender by running away from the enemy is a fool), it's a war, and someone with a gun in their hand with the intent to shoot you is a legal target. It's possible he was running to cover further back so a Marine shot him.

Unless you have your weapon raised in the air or on the ground and you're walking towards US troops, they're going to see you as a target, and I'm sure that any other military in the world would too.

I don't agree necessarily with showing dead bodies (friendly or enemy) on TV or in pictures where you can identify their faces simply for the sake of their family and friends. I did not see the pictures you're referring to, but if they showed their faces (intact), then I do not agree, but what's been done has been done.

You don't know the rules and law of war as outlined in the Hague and Geneva conventions. The only time you cannot shoot a soldier in the back is during surrender or when the soldier is injured AND does not and is not making an attempt to defend himself. ANY soldier knows this and I KNOW that the Australian Army teaches its soldiers on these laws.

Al-Jazeera does not post pics of dead Iraqis unless it fits some form of pro-arab extremist propaganda so they are usually hard to come by.
