Ya winamp- pay the 20-whatever dollars and you can rip CD's real well. And make sure to download as much addons for it as you can.

I'm getting my first mac in two weeks, after using a pc for years.
I work on a mac so it's better i think. I hope you're right and itunes do it.

that ishuffle is just a player, am i right? Not the "managing" capabilities
like an ipod?

Correct. You don't know what song is going to come next. You can manually put songs on it, or tell itunes to 'shuffle' or pick random songs to put on it. It doesn't have an screen, so if you don't like not knowing what song is playing, then don't get it. Really it's just a usb key that can play songs. It's pretty stripped down, oh, and it has Apple's name on it.

Yeh the Ipod or Ipod mini (which i own) i think is the best, atleast out of the ones iv tried, very simple to use, especially if u have a fast USB 2.0

The iPod Shuffle is, for all intents and purposes no different than having a CD style MP3 player. Except it has a Gig of storage...16 hours of songs. No screen or menus.

You have two play types:

In Order.

Shuffle.

The order of your songs if you pick the first option is determined how you sort them in iTunes. I have mine by artists' name. you can do song name, album name, size, last played, date recorded, popularity ranking, or a plethora of other sorting functions or simply the order you want them.

The thing weighs less than my headphones, my last time between charges was almost 13 hours and will charge on a wall adapter or any USB port and is perfect as a music player.

Its so damn small. Smallest out there for the size.

When regular iPods drop in price I'll get a 40GB one, but not till they drop...possibly even one of the larger photo ones.

iTunes...and an iPod Shuffle...

Same (got the 1GB version)

Perfect for taking on a run while home, even better to put in my base kit when away on training.

1GB's plenty for me...if I want more music all I need to do is swap out songs.

I use iTunes only to import music. It is a good player but I like Winamp a bit more for that. I just got one of the newer iPods and I am very happy with it, no more bulky cd player and carrying cds. I've seen it hooked up to a car stereo so hopefully I can keep my cds at home now :)

This is the one I have now, only use MusicMatch to transfer MP3 files.

Sony HMP-A1, 20Gb capacity and it can play videos, MP3 and it's also a digital picture album
