Hey there,
Was browsing around the web looking for a great military site and at last, found this awesome one! I notice "USMC Maritime Special Purpose Force" isn't aknowledge by everyone, I mention it to a few buddies of mine and they don't have a clue of who they are. Are the Maritime Special Purpose Force kind of like the U.S Army's Green Berets? Anyone have some great photos or facts of MSPF to share? I also have a question about SRT (Special Reaction Team) and F.A.S.T (Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team) the FAST team is only called if everything else fails right?
Thanks.

To my knowledge, the MSPF is simply the SOF/specialized unit detachment within a Marine Expeditionary Unit, including Recon/Force Recon, FAST, and Navy SEALs.
As for FAST, remember that their name is "Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team," not counterterrorism. As far as I know their job is more to provide reinforced security to bases, embassies, etc. as was the case in Liberia in 2003 and Haiti last year.
If you want photos of Recon, Force Recon, and FAST, I have a gallery here (http://media.militaryphotos.net/photos/ratamacue) with plenty of photos of them.
If I'm wrong about any of this, please correct me. I'm just telling what I know.
The MSPF is an enhanced force that consists of a Force Recon plt. (assault element of the MSPF), a Trailer Plt. (the security element - a plt. of infantry Marines with some additional training that provides security for the assault element), a small headquarters component and some additional specialized assets of various kinds.
Edit:
As for SRTs, If you're familiar with SWAT teams, SRTs are similar. They're the SWAT team aboard Marine Corps installations. SRTs are established under the authority of the installation commander and are administered through the Provost Marshal’s Office.
Rat's on the money for FAST.

That is the most stable and accurate shooting position to shoot from standing up - hit 5's everytime

Use the search function. These questions have been asked and answered and explained a couple of times already.
And FYI, FAST and SEALs have NOTHING to do with the MSPF.
When in doubt, go to www.usmc.mil to find something out.
Rat's correct about F.A.S.T.
szr's correct about the MSPF.

Thanks for the correction/confirmation molsen. I thought I remember reading somewhere that there was usually a SEAL platoon attached to the MSPF, but I guess not. And now that I think about it, I think I might have been corrected about that once before. :P

OK, so the MSPF is regular Force Recon platoon + support troops and is created when one of USMC infantry battalion starts his duty as the MEU (correct me if I'm wrong).
And what about FAST? Are there (for example) permanent FAST company in evry USMC Division (or on the other level), or regular USMC company (platoon etc.) spend some time acting as a FAST unit?

Nope.
Good bunch of guys though, went through the MSPF urban sniper COI a few years back.
OK, so the MSPF is regular Force Recon platoon + support troops and is created when one of USMC infantry battalion starts his duty as the MEU (correct me if I'm wrong).Correct. When the Ground Combat Element is formed for an upcoming MEU float, an infantry platoon from the Battalion Landing Team is teamed with the MEU's Force Recon platoon. They train to work together durring the predeployment work-ups and work together for the duration of the deployment.
And what about FAST? Are there (for example) permanent FAST company in evry USMC Division (or on the other level), or regular USMC company (platoon etc.) spend some time acting as a FAST unit? The three FAST companies are part of the Marine Corps Security Force Battalion of the 4th Marine Expeditionary Brigade (Anti-Terrorism).
