I'm a socialist but there is alot of EU stuff I don't like.

I'm a supporter of Australia maintaining it's Monarchy. Does the EU mean Australia loses it's head of state?

One thing I will say in support of a Monarchy is that people should blame their ancestors for not providing a safe envirmornment. Thats how it all started. Survival of the fittest.

But thats how it all started though. Whoever provided the most food, done the most to protect the clan etc.

It's not as if royalty started off being inbred.

Royalty started off, by being the family that killed every one else's family, that's a monarchy, not a meritocrachy

for the Europhiles and maybe the Eurosceptic's, here are a few book's I have read on the subject, they pretty well lay out what it's all about

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0745634257/qid=1110468740/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_11_1/026-0075539-6297270

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1594200335/qid=1110468844/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_11_1/026-0075539-6297270

Minardiau,
whenever monarchy is the subject I can't help but take a cheap shot at it - it really wasn't meant to offend you or anything

Wow the new membership goals really are much more extensive that anyone ever thought.

I voted yes. While there are plenty of aspects of European Union that I have issues with, I feel that more good than bad comes out of it.

With regards to all the stuff about the monarchy, I don't think the EU needs to infrige on that. There's no reason why the UK can't be a part of a more unified Europe and maintain our monarchy.

Like moughoun says, even with the obvious differences between the people of the EU nations, we have a more common set of values with them than we do with the US.

Hopefully the EU will stand up for privacy, freedom of technology, and individual rights in the face of pressure from certain monopolistic media groups from the US.

Regarding socialism, most European nations are not socialist.

Hmm but has the EU given any thought with regards to countries who are outside continental Europe who have a European head of state?

Doesn't matter, IMO. The individual nations within the EU can sort those types of things out internally. The issues arising from our royals being your royals don't really affect any other coutries in Europe, so why should the EU bother with it?

As long as the member states retain the power to make chocies regarding their royals then there is no need for the EU to get involved.
