View Full Version : Iraqi Hardware.
There's something that has taken my attention. So far I have only seen a few destroyed iraqi armored fighting vehicles in the news. What's the reason? Should I believe that allied forces had reached almost Baghdad without facing armored Iraqui forces? Have kept Saddam his armored units for the defense of Baghdad? Is it a matter of chance that reporters have not made any pictures of them? :|

This was in the New York Times.
British forces encountered a column of 14 Iraqi T-55 tanks leaving Basra and destroyed them in a "short, sharp engagement," British military officials said Thursday. The Iraqi tanks, aging, Soviet-made machines, were accompanied by a small number of other vehicles, including several armored personnel carriers, which were also destroyed by a squadron of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, the officials said.

British soldiers of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, Armoured Regiment, take a break March 27, 2003, following an engagement with an Iraqi column of vehicles near Basra. British forces destroyed 14 Iraqi tanks and four armored personnel carriers on Thursday, foiling a fresh attempt by troops loyal to President Saddam Hussein to quit the southern city of Basra, a British military spokesman said.
Hope I posted that picture correctly if not I'll try again.

our mechanized infantry still has to be cautious however, like I've said before, the T-72 series tank packs a powerful punch with its 125mm main gun, which has the capacity to destroy our M1s.
Their problem is that they aren't trained well and not motivated. Our tanks are far more advanced, so they never really have a chance to really do anything against our forces, but if it got a shot onto one of our tanks, it would cause major damage ;)
