With Germanys recent Economical troubles will there start to be a large movements of Germans out of Germany, to other nations (Like America)? Im asking this sinces when countires experiences Economical troubles there usually a large emigrate, and i was just wondering would this happen in Germany?

To the topic:
The mobility inside the European Union has drastically increased in the last ten years, therefore it is not absolutely uncommon, to live or work in another country. Besides this, you won't see large scale migration movements.

I have the impression that our economic misery is a bit overexaggerated by the foreign media. Its actually not THAT bad over here, so that Germans will leave the fatherland by the millions. Not yet.
Besides, I suspect that those who emigrate to the US to look for greener patures might regret that in the not so far future...
But I am curious. Why are you asking in the first place? What would happen if Germans do emigrate to the US?

i don't ever envision the German's leaving their homeland especially after all the hardships they have endured (even though some were brought on by themselves, WWI, WWII). most of the immigrants perform jobs that are manual in nature and are not sought after by its average citizen (correct me if i am wrong).

The idea isen't that far off, alot of americans have german decendency. When the constitution was published in philadelphia a copy was made in german. There were even parts of towns where people used the same architecture and styles they came from to create "little germanys". now, america isen't at the same level of prosperity as it was 70-200 years ago. So I dont think we'll see another mass immigration flood from europe. Instead we're gonna see it from places like china/latin america etc..people coming from 3rd world countries for a better life.

Yup, all of germany will leave their homeland, try to get a green card and an American Citizenship to be able to work in America instead of just moving around in Europe being able to work and study anywhere without having to have a permit.

Not so difficult to have a green card!
When i go on US website , often i see official US advertising like "your country is selected to have a green card, come and works in the US".
I thinks Germans have the same.
Btw , i knows some french (including one exgirl friend) who works/worked in the US and all wanted come back!
here it's far more difficult (due to the amount of taxes) to wins tons of money but the life is better (hollidays, socials programs, schools...).
It's a compromise about become rich/ have a better way of life.

Uhhm... I dont see a reason to leave my homeland, my grandparents did stay even in a ruin after WW II, their ancestors stayed under even worse conditions, why should I leave?

You are right, immigration has decreased by 30% into EU since 2002. Except for France that had its immigration increased by a small percentage.

Well, that was pretty entertaining, but I'd like to return to the subject of the thread...
Immigration is not an immediate problem. As long as ppl get the chance to lead a style of life that isn't degrading, they will stay. I myself grew up in the so called "Dreiländereck"; (which you could translate as "Tri-state-area"); it consists of the very South-Western part of Germany, the North-Western part of Switzerland, and the Alcasse-Lorainne-region of France (sorry, I'm sure the terms are wrong, but I don't speak French :( Elsass-Lothringen halt... );
In this area we always had a certain degree of job-fluctuation, but one way or the other: it always helped the employee...
