Can you? I haven't done a whole lot of research on it, but the little I've read says you need a bachelor's, but I was talking to an ex-Marine the other day and he told me all you need is a 2 year. So I'm curious b/c if that's the case I might ditch the enlistment plan and head off to the local community college and try for a commission.

You need a 4 year degree.

I have also heard(from a marine) that if your enlisted and you are a good marine, you can go to ocs with a 2 year and become an officer, but you won't be promoted past major withouth your 4th year... but I've heard you won't get past major these days without a masters so... I dunno

You need a 4 year degree.*sigh* So much for that idea. :| Who knows? The age limit for officers is 28, so maybe after I actually become a Marine I'll have the patience and discipline to do another 4 years of school.

If you're enlisted and make Corporal, you can apply for the MECEP (marine enlisted commissioning education program), and they send you to school to get your 4-year degree and you train with the ROTC unit and go to OCS during one of the summers.
