You put the "/" on the wrong [img] in some of the pics. And retitle your thread to say "Pakistani armour and SSG's trained by US 101st."

In the UK the word 'Paki' is a racial slur.

Yeah thats probably because most times you put the word "F*****G" Before it. Mind you when we play football and rugby against the brits, we do put it before "Brits" some times aswell ;)

If I went up to a white police officer and asked him if he was a Brit, he'd say yes. If I went up to an Asian police officer and used *that* word, I'd get nicked. It's not acceptable here, it's as simple as that.

True. But it's the same as calling Nigerians ******s. It's only racist in a racist context but it's still not the right thing to say.
Same as calling someone a wanker. If you went up to someone and said "You're a wanker." he'd smack you. In reality he almost certainly masturbates and therefore by definition is a wanker.

Doesnt it come from Niger?
The origin of the word "******" is in the Latin "niger," meaning "black." The word, as "niger," entered into Spanish and Portuguese. Early Modern French obtained it from Portuguese where it became "negre" and "negro," respectively. English acquired the word from French, which was manifested in earlier English variants, such as "negar," "neegar," "neger," and "niggor." "Neger" is a current word in both Dutch and German.
The word is thought to have come into its current form via the Southern ****unciation of "negro," which yielded phonetic mistranscriptions as "nigra." For much of its history, until the early 20th Century in America, it was simply descriptive ("******" meaning "Black American" in an informal, esp. Southern sense [bi-racially]), and occasioned little controversy among speakers of any ethnicity, save occasional annoyance. It later became symbolic of racial prejudice and racist laws (and lynchings) against Blacks in the American South.

No its not. If in the UK you tried to shorten Pakistani down to Paki then you would get into trouble.
