That film called The War - I forget the producer name but they do the "Brother" to - which is realy good to.

I find it - Alexei Balabanov the producer of the film "The War" - it's the most realistic action film what i ever saw... it's not a Hollywood ****...

Yeah, i thought it was good. The shotgun blast through the sunroof of that jeep into that womans face was pretty rank though.

The first action film, where the "main actor" can't drop a grenade in a window...

What does the movie "BREAKTHROUGH" call in Russian?

Allright, can somebody list all *good* Russian movies about Chechenya? I'd like to check them out.

Do Russian filmmakers get a lot of cooperation from the military in terms of equipment and advising? (ala Blackhawk Down)

Looks to me like its about the VDV group that was lost blocking the Chechen retreat in the mountains. If it is, I wonder what slant will be put on it? Will the film-makers acknowledge the failure by the VDV to secure a perimeter and maintain watch or will it be more like Blackhawk Down?

Id be interested to see it all the same, looks like some nice footage of cool gear :)

how does the movie ends?
do the Russians finaly lose or do they win?

And have you noticed in one of the pictures a black african guy between the Chechens? Strange...

I haven't seen them all by any means, but I was really impressed by "Chistilische" (Purgatoty) , a film about the 1995 assault on Grozny. The combat scenes in this film are as good as any filmed, in my opinion. This movie blew me away. "Kavkazskaya Ruletka" was a good film, albeit not really a "combat" film. I haven't seen "Voyna" yet.

Yes, failed. C'mon Roman, the VDV group fought valiantly and with tremendous self-sacrifice but Putin himself ordered an investigation into the reasons why the Chechens were able to surprise the VDV group in the first place.

Are you talking about 6th company on 776?
if you are, you should familiraze yourself more with what happened.

If you didnt know Khattab's entire crew 1200-1400 mudjahadeens were trying to break through Argun to enter Dagestan.

90 Russian Paratroopers stoped them killing 400+, and making the other 1000+ go back south towards Itum Kali. It was Khattab's worst defeat.

That 1000 + beards had a hard time going south. They were slaughtered by MVD SPetsnaz and other OSN groups before they reached south. Khattab still managed to run like a bitch leaving his man behind.

If not those Russian paratroopers, think of Beslan, Kizlyar, Budennovsk times 100 in Dagestan.

So to me its a mission well done, with a tragic loss of 84 Russias finest. Till the last bullet they stayed.

The movie takes place in the summer if you didnt notice. 6th company incident took place in the late february-early march

This is a different story

Or you can just download it through P2P. But it sucks that if you don't understand Russian, you cannot fullifuly understand the movie. Fortunately, the War is very straightforward to understand and has by far the "best combat scene" out of all Russian war movies I saw, in terms of action with realism. "Kavkazskaya Ruletka" will for sure be boring to you if you don't understand Russian. I don't understand the movie. It doesn't have action in it.

Yeah I'm going to see if the store has any form of subtitled, I doubt they have dubs and I despise dubs. I'll give a download if its subtitled though.
