Has anyone heard about the DOD Tv channel that they are going to setup in Iraq? Apparently they believe that most of the stories coming outta Iraq are tainted by the media (which is true in most case's RE: Fox/CNN/MSNBC ect ect ect). Apparently its going to be 24 hours Live feed from Iraq thats going to be uncensored. If anyone else has anymore info feel free to post it.

Possible, but slow and will create a large file... Probably much easier to go to the history channels website and buy the video... :-)

(If you have broadband you might even be able to watch it online...)

Wow this was a surprise………well thanks for looking it up for me, I had totally forgotten about this post. Yes I will go to that website and take a look.
About that revenge operation, there were numerous books and even a Hollywood movie about it so I am well versed but hey I am always up for new perspectives about it.

BTW I should warn you that when I first got Discovery I was really excited, but soon became very dissappointed at the quality of some of their docos. For example there is a doco on the harrier and vstol aircraft and French, british, and german, and american aircraft were mentioned, but nothing about Russian efforts. The Harrier was claimed to be the only VSTOL aircraft to make service in any country (which completely ignores the Yak-38 and Yak-38M) and when the JSF enters service it will be the first VSTOL aircraft that can fly supersonic... which ignore the fact that the Yak-141 was flying at mach 1.7 in the 80s.

At first I thought this was western bias, but later there was a doco on the Russian Akula class (western designation Typhoon SSBN) and many of the details in it were wrong too.

I think the problem is not bias but lack of research.

When talking to the captain and sailors of the Akula, or course they are going to say it is the best boat in the world. the designers of the JSF presumably would like the JSF to be th first supersonic VSTOL aircraft.

Anyway I hope I haven't put you off, but take the programs they make with a grain of salt.

(BTW I am not Russian... I am from New Zealand... :) )

I'm not sure if you mixed them up or if the documentary did. (I haven't seen it by the way).
The sub referred to in the west as 'Akula' is an SSN (roughly comparable to our Los Angeles class) and 'Typhoon' is an SSBN. :D
