I saw this image on msnbc.com. I've looked for this helo in the US arsenal on cnn.com, and searched the web. The website lists it as a A2C2S Black Hawk. Is this another name on a different type of Blackhawk? Or do they have it wrong? Excuse my ignorance!

I think A2C2S stands for AACCS or Airborne Air Command and Control Squadron.
Not absolutely sure but I do recall seeing this abreviation before.

That sounds about right, because in Black Hawk Down, Lt.Col. McKnight (Sizemore) called the command/control bird "C2."

Or he could of been referring to Chalk 2

Nah dude, I remember him talking to the command/control bird after Pilla is killed and saying "C2, this is McKnight, we have a KIA..."

Alright then, I guess I need to watch it again and pay more attention.

Correction guys!
A2C2S stands for Army Airborne Command and Control System. i knew something didn't sound right with my first reply.

http://www.uxxi.org/docs/c4i-repository/Army%20Acronym.pdf is where I first saw it.

The Blackhawk in the picture has external fuel tanks to give it extended 'hang time' over the battle field.

Not technically in the inventory yet. Prototype #4 being integrated as we speak. Praxis makes the goods (http://www.pxi.com/praxis_publicpages/A2C2S.html), we make it fit (http://www.l-3com.com/is/index.html).
