Home made weapons -Anti tank

Just saw this and though about home made weapons , Anti-tank or other. The IRA develped qiute a few in the 80's .

The crudest was based on the German 'Armburst'.

A pipe with a tin can with fins, flat front . Full of C 4 with .22 LR stuck in the front face to act as detonators.

Propelling charge was black powder and the counter force was... soft cloths and broken biscuites. For real.

A very crude but effective blast weapon.

non the less its still an interesting post....the only ppl i know of that use tanks freely are militia or military and if you read anti tank weapon....i would think facts on a anti tank devise, not an artical saying how to make a weapon to blow up the president....just my thought

I mean comon do you really think that if some asshole was on the internet looking for a weapons recipe that they would think a good place to go would be Militaryphotos.net :cantbeli: If you did a search on google or any search for that matter you would get a thousend websites that have The Anarchist's Cookbook and other books and manuals on how to make anything from a machine gun to a anti tank mine to a thermo nucular cruise missile ;)

You are all right that this post most likely won`t lead to anyone learning something drastically new that they can`t find anywhere else, but following logic of the rules saying that posts of IED attacks from certain sites is in itself supporting the terrorists, spreading information like this in any form could be supporting them as you never know where they would find the information when needed. THis is not to say that I think that removing this post would make a lick of difference.. But to those who are extremely opposed to IED vids, the vid from the gun cameras on the AC gunship isn`t any less propaganda..Regardless the content, allways maintain a chritical sense to its content regardless the source..,

PS: not looking to start some sort of flamewar ro aynthing.. just seems like some are a bit to trusting of certain sources and willing to allow gorry stuff as long as it is bad guys dying..

I do agree with everything that you said. I think that showing videos and stuff like that of suicide bombers is just what they want, they woulden't be doing it if they knew that nobody would ever know what they did. I don't think showing pictures od homemade weapons is going to aid these scumbags in anyway at all, I can see if someone is posting detailed manuals on how to make IED's or pipebombs but just a few pictures never hurt anyone(so I hope ;) ) and they are kinda interesting to look at.

I just want to point out, that if someone thinks this is something dangerous to post around here and they wish to ban it, they should also bannish all chemistry and physics lessons from schools all over the world.
I'm 17 and I know how to make plastic explosives, tnt and all kinds of stuff like that, I can even calculate how much force there will be in the explosion and all kinds of stuff.

First,

None of the information posted here is information that is not already available in open sources, histories of the IRA, etc. This particular design was called the PRIG. It is one thing to discuss general design parameters. It is quite another to post blueprints and manufacturing instructions, which has not been done here, so enough of the silly debate.

Second,

This was an extremely interesting post and one that bears further discussion because increasingly terrorist groups are mimicking the IRA and developing their own home-made bombs, mortars, anti-tank weapons, and rockets. This includes the Iraqis, the Palestinian groups, the Colombian groups, the Sri Lankans and others. Some of these designs are relatively advanced and designed to be manufactured in a "kitchen sink." This gives terrorist groups complete autonomy from traditional logistics lines that have been targets of interception.

Any other information and photos IRA and similar devices from other groups would be greatly appreciated since these are the mostly likely threats that will be faced in the future by forces conducting counter-terrorism.

Just in case people misunderstood my post, I was trying to say that if the argument is that posting a vid showing ieds going off is supporting or aiding the terrorist cause, then to me logic would suggest such a post as this would do the same. Now I am not saying this is the case, cause I don`t believe either to be true. I also wanted to point out to those arguing such vids are propaganda, that I would assume they have the same reaction to a guncam vid from a hercules gunship.. I had nothing against this post as it clearly is readily available elsewhere..

Jesus you'd have to have some balls to pull the trigger on that thing. I wonder how many IRA memebers blew themselves up firing that tube of death. Talk about putting it on the line for a cause. As far as possibly teaching someone how to make it, if they can get their hands on C4 they probably know something about bombs to begin with. If hey want to make the thing based on a picture and a very basic idea of construction from milphotos, they'll probably kill themselves or blow their balls off
