I haven't used it, but I've read that it is comparable to other Sig products - not too bad...
id recomend getting yourself a m1911 made by a company with a little more experiance with the model. kimber, colt, sa, wilson, come to mind.
how much you willing to spend?

I’m looking for a 1911 that’s very reliable and accurate out of the box. I haven't decided what I'm willing to spend. If I even get one.

How does the reliability of the Kimber warrior compare?

kimber makes a good pistol. they are in use by the us marines and various agencies including lapd swat. some people dont like their series 2 safety(this feature is not included on weapons sold to marines) or their MIM internal parts but they should be fine. id recomend sa over kimber because they do have fewer MIM parts, doesnt have a kimber series two type safety and they have a life time warrenty. but you cant go wrong with either one.
look into the springfield armoury operator.
it seems you want a accessory rail? do you really want your pistol to have this feature or are you just pondering the idea?
but if you want the absolute best wilson is the way to go. but their cqb model will run you around 2 grand.
EDIT: i believe kimber also uses castings for their frams and slides unlike colt, sa and wilson which use superior forgings.

Not having had a chance to actually shoot the SiG 1911, I can tell you that I have heard mixed reviews in regards to the pistol.
My suggestion is that you look elsewhere.
Now, if you want one of their other SiGs like the 220 or something then go for it.
If you want a .45 get one made by a company that has been making them for years. Wilson is SUPER pricey but gold in quality. Kimber makes great mid level to upper level quality 45s. Springfield makes affordable entry level guns.
I have shot guns manufactured by all three and can attest to their functionality.

Not Ed Brown or Les Baer?

Check out sigforum.com or glocktalk.com for reviews...they seem to be mixed from what I remember

Send me a private message, and I'll give you a rundown on them. I give it an F. Get something else. That's 75% opinion as always, but I've had about 3 returned to my place for repairs back to Exeter.
Lemme know if you want a mini-review.
EDIT: Oh yes, and no offense to the individual who said they're on the same playing field as Wilson COmbat, but eh, that must be a Special olympics field with Wilson's that have had their parts replaced with Firestorm parts!
NOT IN ANYONE'S LIFETIME!

Gunshop that I go to, got in two Kimber Warriors. The sales guys liked the pistols so much that they bought them. Both are going back to the factory after less than a week. They could not disengage the safety after placing the pistols on safe.
I was very interested in the Sigs but from reading the reviews on 1911forum.com, it seem like too many had to be sent back to Sig for repair.
I have a Wilson CQB. Excellent pistol, but expensive. Over 6000 rounds through it so far.

It sounds like Wilson is the way to go if you can afford it.
MrSkorotsnoy, I'll take you for your word.

Go to http://forums.1911forum.com/ (closed at the moment for remodeling)
Read hundreds & hundreds of posts. By the end, you'll know what sucks & what doesn't. Just remember, every manufacturer has unsatisfied customers. How many & how they handle the customers matter.

Pricey, but something I have been considering...
