BAGHDAD, Iraq - An audiotape purportedly made by Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) told Iraqis on Sunday to step up their resistance to the U.S.-led occupation, saying the United States and its allies misjudged the difficulty of occupying Iraq (news - web sites).
The CIA (news - web sites) said it would analyze the tape, broadcast on the Arabic language television station Al-Arabiya. President Bush (news - web sites) dismissed it as "propaganda."
"I suspect it's same old stuff. It's propaganda. We're not leaving until the job is done, pure and simple," Bush said. "I'm sure he'd like to see us leave, if in fact it's his voice. I know the elements of the Baathist party, those who used to torture, maim and kill in order to stay in power would like to see us leave." ,
The speaker, who sounded like the ousted Iraqi leader, told Iraqis that the "road of jihad (holy war) and resistance" is the only one to make the "armies of the unjust occupation leave our country."
He also criticized Iraqis who cooperate with coalition forces, calling them "stray dogs that walk alongside the caravan" and who lack even the "minimum political weight" to "walk in the streets of Baghdad or any other Iraqi city."
"We tell them that Iraq has a special `chemical mix' that can only be deciphered by the believers among the sons of Iraq," he said.
A news editor at Al-Arabiya said the recording was delivered to the station via telephone a few minutes before it was aired. A person called the station Sunday and played the 15-minute tape, the news editor said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
"We don't even know if the call was from Baghdad or any other place," the editor said.
During the broadcast, the speaker used Saddam's old rhetorical styles, including indirect references to President Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair (news - web sites) as "liars" and calling the White House the "Black House."
He began by greeting the Iraqi people on the occasion of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan and said the "evil ones will not be able to occupy and colonize Iraq."
"They thought and made others think that they were going on a picnic to occupy Iraq and destroy their weapons of mass destruction," the voice said, denying that Iraq had any such arms.
"Iraq will rebel against their evil intentions to colonize it and to wield influence in it," he said. "The evil ones now find themselves in a crisis and this is God's will for them."
He added that "the aggressors have no choice but to leave our nation" and called on "mujahedeen," or holy warriors, to strike coalition forces "even harder."
"The path of resistance is the path of choice to God and the people," he said.
The speaker made an apparent reference to the U.S. plan to speed the transfer of political power to Iraqis, which was announced here Saturday. The speaker said that attacking "agents brought by foreign armies" takes precedence over attacking coalition armies themselves — a clear call to target Iraqis who work for the U.S.-led coalition or government ministries.
Referring to coalition forces, the voice said they would "only reap disappointment with more and more American lives lost."
"The land and fire of glorious Iraq that God has blessed with jihad because of valor in resistance... will swallow hundreds of thousands of troops that ... will never achieve their plans."

Yeah well guys someone is doing a pretty good job for him this past 3 weeks,4 helo's at what $6-10 million a piece, and 50 KIA,not to mention all the wounded that reduce a units operationl capabilities.!!
And despite having 120k troops in country he's still at large and able to pop up every now and again, with the odd propaganda tape urging Iraqi's to fight!
Interesting that old George has said the same it's mere propaganda, yet could the same not be said about his many statements?
The biggest ,and most stupid one has to have been "Bring it on",well that they certainly are,and he may well live to regret ever saying that!!

Are we?
at what ratio is this working out?we have no proof other than what the Government tell us,they and many disbelive the media'r reporting,so why would they seem to be the real MacCoy?
How many out and out terrorist have been killed by the coalition since May 1st?
90% of these attacks are done by Iraqi Militias, the remnants of his Fedayeen,RG/SRG and Special forces Brigades, you know the ones who simply "dissapeared" now,not terrorists!!Apart from a few dozen "alleged" foreign fighters, there's no other proof, and that proof was handed to the media by the Military, have we seen any cast iron proof?
I'm sorry Seoul but I don't accept it unless I see it in laid out bare bones and all,not some spin.!
The conception of this war was that it would be over very quickly ,the Iraqi people would be overjoyed at the overthrow of the regime, and would start living a normal life, the troops who fought well on the Battlefield would go home to a rapturous victory,...................but someone seems to have lost that part of the script?Public Opinions on both sides is waning as the casualties mount, the cost of rebuilding will go up,Saddam is still at large and things are sure as hell to get worse before they get better!
There is the possibility of the crackdown being imposed by the US in Iraq will have a detremental effect on the very people they were supposed to free, the resentment of the treatment will increase and the resolve of the Militants will stiffen, remeber too that they are all Fathers, sons, and brothers of someone, and for each loos they take,it effects several families who will turn against the occupying forces.
This whole war is starting to look very very untidy, the US maybe the No 1 superpower, but this last 2-3 weeks has definately seen it take some sucker punches, and there's certain for more to follow

this is how you know what is what: if there is a suicide bomb attack, it is done by foreign terrorists such as al qaeda members. if there is a coordinated attack with SAM, then it could be fedayeen or al qaeda. if it is IED, it could be fedayeen, al qaeda, or 'street fighter' who does it for money. if there is a 'soldier shot' incident, it is by 'street fighters'.
when they attack, we'll strike right back at them. we'll see how things turn out after operation iron hammer.
Sorry, I could not resist. Just an obsession, nothing serious...

WASHINGTON D.C, USA - An audiotape purportedly made by George W. Bush(news - web sites) told Americans on Sunday to step up their commitment to the U.S.-led occupation, saying the United States and its allies misjudged the difficulty of occupying Iraq (news - web sites).
The CIA (news - web sites) said it would analyze the tape, broadcast on the English language television station Fox News. Senator Lieberman (news - web sites) dismissed it as "propaganda."
"I suspect it's same old stuff. It's propaganda. We're not giving funding until the election is over, pure and simple," Lieberman said. "I'm sure he'd like to see us sign the bill, if in fact it's his voice. I know the elements of the GOP, those who used to manipulate, spin and throw dirt in order to stay in power would like to see us pay." ,
The speaker, who sounded like the shaken American leader, told Americans that the "road of patriotic speeches (holy war) and resistance" is the only one to make the "Democrats of the unjust opposition change their mind"
He also criticized Americans who cooperate with the UN, calling them "stray dogs that walk alongside the caravan" and who lack even the "minimum political weight" to "walk in the streets of Washington D.C or any other American city."
"We tell them that the US has a special `chemical mix' that can only be deciphered by the believers among the sons of America," he said.
A news editor at Fox News said the recording was delivered to the station via telephone a few minutes before it was aired. A person called the station Sunday and played the 15-minute tape, the news editor said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
"We don't even know if the call was from the White House or any other place," the editor said.
During the broadcast, the speaker used Dubyas' old rhetorical styles, including indirect references to President Bush sr. and Prime Minister Tony Blair (news - web sites) as "mentors" and calling the White House "my House."
He began by greeting the American people on the occasion of the American excuse to indulge of Thanksgiving and said the "evil ones will not be able to rule and colonize Capitol Hill."
"They thought and made others think that they were going on a picnic to occupy the Capitol and destroy their weapons of mass manipulation," the voice said, denying that GOP had any such arms.
"The Bible Belt will rebel against their evil intentions to colonize it and to wield influence in it," he said. "The evil ones now find themselves in a crisis and this is God's will for them."
He added that "the aggressors have no choice but to leave our nation" and called on "rednecks," or holy warriors, to strike Democrats "even harder."
"The path of resistance is the path of choice to God and the people," he said.
The speaker made an apparent reference to the Dean plan to speed the transfer of political power to himself, which was announced here daily. The speaker said that attacking "agents brought by the opposition" takes precedence over attacking the rival candidates themselves — a clear call to target moderate officials who work for the U.S.State Department or the CIA.
Referring to his rivals, the voice said they would "only reap disappointment with more and more key states lost."
"The land and fire of glorious Texas that God has blessed with size because of valor in resistance... will swallow hundreds of thousands of voters that ... will never achieve their plans."

There are 23.5millions inhabitants in Iraq, and a large amount of weapons. Unless this operation is estimated to take 50 years, I doubt there will be any major difference.
And what do you mean "we'll strike back" I suppose that you'll be sitting infront of the computer while the soldiers to the job.

No one really knows how many we're getting. There aren't solid numbers of insurgent-dead like there are of Coalition-dead. Therefore, we can't really know what the ratio is of coalition-to-guerrilla casualties.
Iraqis resist and saddam takes credit. If they didnt fight for him the first time why the hell would they fight for him again?
The people who are fighting don't want anything to do with that bastard.

I think someone should make a Christmas CD of all of Saddam's underground messages this year. Nothing fancy, just like a stocking stuffer. ;)

Exactly. This guy has been killing both Kurds and Shi'as, and Shi'as are the dominant, does he really expect them to back him up and fight for him? rofl
He's also been busy killing some Sunnis as well, no, he's not gonna get no support from nobody. Iraqis wanna do this to him: :fork: ...I believe that all of the resistence is in the Sunni Triangle right now...
