so how does the US army fuction. Are you on a contractual bases or are you there till retirment age

Normally you sign a contract with a set term of service, and you have the option of re-enlisting to extend that time. Right now a lot of people are being involuntarily extended becasue of Iraq and Afghanistan.

January 21, 2006 is my ETS. I'm still on inactive reserve for another 2 years after my ETS just in case we have WW3

They offer $15,000 (before tax deduction) for 6 years re-enlistment in the National Guard. That's a lot of money and I'm thinking real hard about it because my ETS is 8 months from now.

My EAS (End of Active Service) was in November 1997.

ETS (on account of IRR time) was June 2001.

i did get the 15k for re upping but the first 6 years i didnt get jack **** for re-upping
