It is very easy to run.

I don't have any pics, but there's a HGUE market out there for parts and accessories for the 10/22. Have a good time.

Check out the 10/22 section at Cabelas.com

Maitenece is very important for any firearm, but the 10/22 is a beast. I've heard accounts of tens of thousands of rounds being fired by one user over years, and on top of that the rifle was bought used and in beat up shape. One guy said that he has never stripped his weapon after about 20,000 rounds, but wouldn't be suprised if he did and found out it was an AK in disguise. You can mount just about any scope on a 10/22, just make sure you get the correct rings. However, I think you should be learning to shoot it with the open sight aperature it already has before you scope it. You might find out, like I did with my Marlin 60, that shooting with the opens is much more fun.

Good suggestion, but i already know how to shoot i was the the top marksmen on my JROTC rifle team.

But shooting a real gun is probaly different than a airrifle but i do know how to use a scope.

Get a weaver rail, good rings, and a cheap scope. The iron sights are absolutely horrible. :)

If you really get into shooting as accurately as you can, try some of the higher grade target amunition. In. 22lr it is actually fairly cheap. More or less.

Then it starts to get expensive.

You may have to experiment to find the right round for you and your rifle. Maybe try the Federal from Cheaperthandirt.com first. At $2.52 for a 50 round box it won't break the bank.

The Wolf match ammo is also getting good reviews at a low price. I haven't tried it yet, but I intend to.

Hogue (http://getgrip.com/) makes great stocks for it. (You won't need a new stock, but they're nice.)

Bushnell (http://www.bushnell.com/) makes nice scopes that aren't too expensive.

Look into taking a hunter’s safety class. They are run by certified NRA instructors, and you will learn about different kinds of guns, gun parts, how to use them, and most importantly, gun safety.

Wonderfull little thing, fun to shoot, more than basic maintenance, acceptably accurate and cheap.
The best beginner tool, IMHO.
Good choice.

P.S. forget about all the accesoiries and optics, learning to shoot with the open sights is a must before going crasy, and the weapon doesn`t really justify the move.

You can perform some simple upgrades to the action that will make a huge difference in the way it shoots. I would definitely reccomend a trigger job and changing the reciol buffer pin. Volquartsen is a great brand for anything 10/22.

Hogue makes a VERY good standard-style stock. For something more tactical, Choate is great. If you really want to put some money into a stock, look into the Fajen laminated thumbole stocks.

Another resource for 10/22 parts is www.clipsnstuff.com

You cannot go wrong with a 10/22.

Geezah and I went a State range last year and probably had more fun shooting is bull barreled custom 10/22 rig than anything else. Shooting out the ten ring is simply...fun.

Edit: I bought this for my good friend when he graduated from law school:

20" Bull barrel...sexy.
