Alright, this is it. I am sick and tired of not knowing how to ****ounce the name "Koch". I've been saying "Coke" my whole life but I want to know the correct way if that isn't it.

I don't want someone to reply if you've heard it from a friend of a friend or your local policeman says he knows how to ****ounce it :D

is it

"Coke"?
"****"?
"Coach"?
"KoTch"( ryhmes with crotch)?

I have heard everything from it probounced like "coke" to it being exactly like "****"

I prenounce it like Heckler and "****".........Im sure that means I have latent homo******ity or something but to me the "coke" just doesnt sond right.......

As for the "true" ****unciation? I have no clue. Better ask a german........or call the HK hotline and when the lady/man goes "Hecker and " ", how may we help with your weapons needs today? You say "thanks, you already have" and hang up!

I took German for 5 years. That showed me that everyone has a different way of ****ouncing it!

I say it with a soft "ch" or whatever. "Kowhhc", hard to explain.

Just say "****". Ask people if they want to play with it, too.

"Heckler" is ****unced pretty much as an American would say "hack-ler".

"Koch" is ****ounced like "****"...except for the ch. The ch is not ****ounced as an "k", or "ck", and certainly not as a "sh". It's a guttural hissing sound that doesn't exist in the English langauge. To learn speaking it ask for competent help. A Klingon for example. Or, if non is available, a Dutchmen will do. Anyway, both should be able to help you since about half of their respective languages consist of the sound in question.

Their rep ****ounced it as "****" on the History channel, but I think the correct German ****ounciation is "kohhhh"

It's easy - the 'ch' in 'Koch' is ****ounced just like the 'ch' in the Scottish 'loch' :D

I always thought it was ****ounced as "cough"! :)

But seriously, when I heard it mentioned the last time, it sounded something like "K-aw-hall".

I see no umlaut over the "o" in Koch.

Koch is ****ounced with a 'soft' 'ch' that is made in the back of the throat. (as in 'Ich' (I), 'auch' (and), 'kochen' (to cook) and 'rauchen' (to smoke))

Tony Williams is correct, it is comparable to the scottish ****unciation of Loch.

It p*sses me off when people say 'kotch', where the hell does the 'T' come from? It's not there!

Bottom line, get some booksmarts and learn some other languages!!!

are you serious? So you can accurately ****ounce EVERY single vocal sound from EVERY other language? man I salute you. On the official H&K page it describes the EXACT way to say it especially if you were a native german. However it also says for people unfamilier making that sound ie. americans, that "Coke" is perfectly acceptable. It isnt about dumbing down, it is simply about culture. It is easier for me to say "Coke" than it is to ****ounce the EXACT sound of that.

This has to rank as one of the most ridiculous threads ever on this forum. As previously stated, the controversy was cleared up once and for all in about the fifth post with a sound clip from the company themselves giving corect ****ounciation.
There is only one correct way to ****ounce "Koch" as in this sound clip (http://www.hkpro.com/koch.wav). If you can't get your tongue around the "CH" sounds (as in Loch), I suppose the closest is "Kock" - it certainly isn't "Kotch" and it isn't "Koke".

If you can't manage that, forgetget it - say H&K, it's easier and everyone knows what you're on about.

Big deal litle bit more or less harder ****onciation like w and v.In my language we have only one way to ****aunce H(it is like in sound clip) and V as well other letters so there is no mistakes and stupid questions.
