Anyone ever had any problems with the webtex gear?
Namely this:

I saw that Webtex changed the materials they were using recently which upped the quality a bit, but thats just been on more recent stuff.
The Webtex kit that I have seen and used as generally been of an average quality, but I don't have experience with that particular vest.

Never used their kit myself, with the exception of their "SAS" smock which is distinctly average. The general opinion I hear of it is not good though. Although most would say that if it's fine for impressions or airsoft.

Yeah, I've heard that it isn't hard enough for real world stuff. I am a paintballer and want it for that.
It seems pretty good for what I need it for.
Plus I did see somewhere they market their gear for TA etc, not some HSLD unit.

Well, I wouldn't say TA (I don't know many TA guys that buy Webtex kit). More like Cadets.

hi squek,
i use this vest for softair playing for a year since now, and i´m fine with it. Pretty tough material, nice to wear, good placement of the pouches. It might fit loose if you´re very very slim and it lacks an internal pouch for a camelbak bladder, but thats all. Hope that helps,
bye

I've owned one and sold it. You can get an awful lot in it, I'll give it that much. It feels very comfy too. The pouches have collars in them to keep water out, though with my vest, a few of them didn't have the drawstring in the neck; a bit of paracord sorted that.
It also has buckles on the back for attaching bergen side-pouches, so you could pop a Camelbak in there.
I honestly couldn't comment on toughness, as I never wore it to a skirmish! However, if you compared the Webtex version with the issue version, you can see/feel that the Webtex one is not nearly as tough. Still, a great vest for paintballing, no doubt.

I've never used the stuff, nor would I want to. It's expensive compared to buying some grade 1 PLCE pouches (if you know where to go) and it isn't as well made. Plus the IR signature will be HUGE as it isn't IRR. You'd be lit up like a xmas tree in someone's NVA.
However, it sounds as though you want it for paintballing, so it might suffice. But why not just get some very cheap belt kit? If I were you, I'd just buy some grade 1/2 OG PLCE pouches and a belt. Two or three pouches on a belt for ammo, water etc would be more than enough. If you need any more space, just use a 'grab bag' such as a PLCE side pouch. It won't look as gucci (although it depends how you carry it off!) but it'll be a damn sight cheaper and a lot more durable. Plus you won't care about getting it covered in sh*t.

From what I've heard... Webtex is crap. A mate of mine with the TA said some of them had used it and the results were not good. Three of the Assault Vests fell apart within a three day exercise. As well as one of their bergens that, the moment he put it on his back (loaded of course), the straps gave out and the bergen was soon back on the floor again. I think the only product he liked was the notebook cover.
Though I've never tried the kit myself, I wouldn't really want to try it.
It might do for paintballing, but don't be suprised if it doesn't hold up for long.

Well, it looks crappy, go get some from SASS instead, good quality kit.

its ok for cadet use or if you spend your life in the command post or posing
but its not really priced to survive regular operational stuff.
but some people swear the newer stuffs ok others swear about it

I'd leave it and go Arktis or SASS.

Cracking! Roll around in some high grade sh*t and they'll be fine! ;)
Honestly, like PrincessRAR said, belt order is the best. Vests and rigs are ok for DS and vehicle crews, but for crawling around in the dirt you can't beat belt kit.

How are hand/40mm Grenad carried for the belt kit at the combat?
Is it bundled to the york, and is the van dahlia used?

Only ever used a single waterbottle pouch. It was ****. It may be DPM but it still stands out a mile off. The quality is appalling even for someone like myself using it for OTC(Off The Cuff) stuff. Got rid of it after it began to fall apart because i kept taking it outside. All said and done i'm a bit bitter because i'm a pikey student and i'm none to keen on spending 15 beer tokens for something to fill up my rubbish bag with. PLCE is cheaper, it works, if your in the Army its free.
For paintballing/airsoft then it might be adequate but your probably better buying some used PLCE stuff off ebay or a surplus shop.

Hand grenades and smoke are kept in the spare ammo pouches on the right hand side of your webbing, or in a spare pouch around the back.
40mm rounds tend to be kept in a satchel or claymore bag containing an six rounds. At least, that's what we do.
Is it bundled to the york
Grenades are never to be strapped to the yoke. It is bad practice to do this. It is very easy for the handle to bend or the pin to be dislodged. Embarrassing if it's smoke, lethal if it's a fragmentation grenade or white phosphorus.
and is the van dahlia used?
Je m'excuse, mais je ne comprende pas que vous a dit!
