I just got one on our employee purchase program. Excellent condition M59 for $125. :P
My question is, does anyone have any ideas on how to carry extra ammo at the ready? We set up small courses, kind of like action shooting (IDPA, IPSC, etc), so I'm wondering if anyone knows what pouches one could use that securely fit 10rd SKS stripper clips, and allow quick access to them?
Other methods of carry would work fine too. Vests, belts, whatever. Need to carry about 100rds, which is 10x clips of 10rds each. I honestly ran out of ideas. I don't want to just throw them into an M16 pouch, because they'll just fall out during transitions between shots.
Thanks,
-Ryan

Look at the original yugo ammo pouch... I think they hold 60 rounds on 6 stripper clips.
In the first pics....
In the second one, it's a heavy duty Russian canvas bag that fits on the belt and can hold A-lot of stripper clips to fire non-stop for a long time.

Also, you just can't go wrong with original design....
These Russian pouches will work well and each one holds 4 clips (40 rounds). Just have to unhook them before you start shooting.

You just can't go wrong with a 59/66. It's like the "Swiss Army" version of the SKS. You've got your night sights, grenade launcher, bayonet, cleaning kit compartment - about the only thing it doesn't have standard is a bipod! Of course, that can be fixed. :)

If I remember corectly yugo pouch can hold four clips with ammo in each side and there should be leather belt going under them wich you pull and then striper slips come out and voila.

There is 3 version of Yugo SKS
1. M-59, pure licenced copy of SSSR SKS
2. M-59/66 with integral grenade launcher, grenade launcher sight, and longer blade of folding bayonet.
3. M-50/66 A1, same as previous but with tritium sights.
There is a sniper version with montage for night scope and very thick rubber appendix which make butstock longer , but it is very rare.

There is also M59 with barrel about 5cm/2in longer then standard M59 I red on this web site (wich is only in Serbian and down at the moment)
http://naoruzanjeparacin.com
that there was sniper version of this rifle wich was called SPAP(Snajperska Polu Automatska Puska)Sniper Semi Automatic Rifle and I also herd from another guy that he saw two of those in 1991 in military depot. And few days ago I saw on another discution board pics og M59 with longer barrel wich I am going to post in a minute.

Check out the Chinese SKS 10 Pocket Bandolier (http://www.northridgeinc.com/sp_mags.htm), scroll down the page until you get to the SKS section.

What he said. These things will hold at least 200 rounds in stripper clips.

My father-in-law had two of them when he had his SKS, for $10 you can't go wrong plus it's made to last ;)

Why don;t you just clip a stripper clip to the sling? Sort of like G.I's did back in WW II for their Garands.
The simplest solution is sometimes the best. ;)

I can't say I thought of that.
I'll be shooting LOTS of rounds though,s o I'd have to have one bigass heavy sling!

Ahh...ok. I misunderstood. I thought you were doing a tactical course, which usually only consumes about 30 rounds or so...

Hahaha our "tactical" courses require all your ammo, and last as long as 5 days. Wanna try?

Found a solution. I used my old EAGLE M16 chest harness, which holds 4x M16 mags, and just put 3x 10rd stripper clips in each pouch for a total of 120rds.

It actually works too. It doesn't strip rounds off of other clips when you remove one.
