Yes , you are right , offcorse . It's not the commando  .
And I think that there would be no more green color .

Why did they change the color to black?
If you think of it the proper camo for israel should be yellow.
Do you have pics off the commando version in black (hi res).

THANKS.

Cool stuff.

How do you guys (Israeli Soldiers) like the Tavor compared to older rifles you've been issued?

Can anyone please help with all these MTAR variants? These seem to be at least 7 variants:

1, Original MTAR-21
http://www.gun-world.net/old/isreal/imi/tavor/mtar.htm

There weren´t any recent exibition pictures of the original version. Was ist abandoned in favor of Tavor 2 (which seems to be renamed to MTAR-21)?

2, MTAR-21 mit normal pistol grip
http://media.militaryphotos.net/photos/albums/LIC-2004-ISRAEL/agy.sized.jpg

3, MTAR-21 with new pistol grip
http://media.militaryphotos.net/photos/albums/LIC-2004-ISRAEL/agw.sized.jpg

4, and 5, 9mm MTAR-21 with old and new pistolgrip

6, und 7, MTAR-21 suppressed (5.56 und 9mm). All suppressed variants seems to have the new pistolgrip.

1-The Micro version of the first "TAVOR1" family. It has a 250 mm barrel and no handguard. The charging handle was moved back to the trigger area from the hand guard area of the Tavor,Tavor Commander and Tavor Sniper. The pressure switch of the laser sight of the MARS was also moved back from the handguard to the triger area.Tha basic model is the TAVOR with a 460 barrel and MARS sight which conbines both red dot and laser sights. The Commander version is the same as the basic Tavor but with a 380 mm short barrel. The sniper version is a basic tavor with harris bipods and a trijicon acog on a picatiny rail instead of the mars. All versions in this fammily were green.
2,3,4,5,6,7-There are tons of versions but to make a long story short, untill the IDF will adopt a specific version, all versions except the ones I mentioned in the first "Tavor1" weapons fammily are to be considered as different prototype versions.Anyway as in the case of the M16/M4,the IDF considers the short "Commander" version as the basic weapon, and the full lenght rifle only in designated marksman role.

Yep, it's a kind of plastic.Lots of high strenght polymers are used today in guns like Glock,Steyr Aug,even AR15 lowers and uppers.

And there are no stupid questions only stupid answers. ;)
Feel free to ask any question.

Black Tavor is made of different polimer matterials then the green Tavor , less quality - better suited for mass production . I think that is correct , at list .

There was an M203PI short barrel .

it is a good looking rifle but I like the Galil more :D But I hope your army are starting to use this new rifle. You really don’t need to import assault rifle like the M16 when you have your own weapon industry ;)

I hope not... Israel need to start making their own assault rifle or else they will lose allot off good small arms engineers and weapon smiths to other countries :cantbeli:

oke I put it really simple:

US gives Israel money..... money can only be spend in/on US.... Israel want's Tavor has no money itself.... IMI builds fabrication facility in Texas or elswhere.... Israel spends money in US
