Here's the first batch of pictures. I'll post more as soon as I get them on PhotoBucket.
On the way to Killarney from the airport. This is around six in the morning.

Back at O'Donoghue's Monday night. One of our guys turned twenty-one so we threw a party for him, with the blessing and assistance of Joan, the manager.

Gotta say, the birthday boy got utterly f***ed up. By the time things started winding down, he'd had thirteen shots, two beers, a rum and coke, and the whole damn bottle of champagne. Nothin' like a good party, huh? ;)
Wow... if you had told me some of those nature pics were from Africa I wouldn't have doubted ya! Looks pretty cool.

Bagpipers from the Washington D.C. Fire Department playing in the Killarney Cultural Centre. They marched in the Saint Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin and were touring around Ireland.
In the background, there's a couple ladies dancing to the music.

The D.C. group performing in O'Donoghue's at our group's request. It was cool, 'cause the scheduled band was just finishing and these guys came in and just started playing.

I've got a couple video clips, too, but the quality isn't all that great. If anyone wants to see 'em, I'll try to get them hosted and posted.

Like I said, I've got a couple video clips, but I don't know if they're too big to host. I'm checking on that right now.
I can post 'em if anyone's interested.
Yeah, we had a great time. Here's a good reason why you should not take pictures while drunk:

Do people still speak it there or is it really just sort of a way of holding on to your heritage?

it's not that widely spoken, but we have an Irish tv and radio channel, we have lot's of Irish only school's, they are very popular because of their quality, and there are several area's of the country that Irish is more common then English, especially in the Gaelteacht in Galway where you have to speak Irish, the number's of fluent speaker's has actually started to increase for the first time since the famine

When I was there in 2002, most of the traffic signs I saw were only in Gaelic. I was delighted my 'book Irish' was finally of some use!

Interesting. I was always under the impression that it was pretty much a dead language aside from use by scholarly types and whatnot. Pretty cool that it's not the case.
