Quite incredible, especially when you realise the military buys those at a ridiculous fraction of that price!

You ain't seen the rabbits round here mate ;) Well, it IS the Easter weekend...I've still got to decide whether they're rabbits or people in costumes!

That's the magic of supply and demand. A transferable M240B? They could probably charge whatever the hell they felt like.

You can thank our gun control laws for the price!

For more fantastically expensive stuff, if you go here:
http://www.gunsamerica.com/
And check out the various 'Class 3' sections, as well as "Destructive Devices", and for a higher class of money, "Drilling & Combo Rifles/Shotguns", and do a search for "purdey" or "holland holland", you'll be stunned.
In fact, here's a pair of twenty gauge Purdey shotguns, yours for just $229,000:
http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976572349.htm
In comparison, an MG42 for $28,000 is quite good value:

Martin, Technically you could buy live ammo, but no manufacturer would sell it due to reliability issues (they won't sell to dealers either). Also you'd have to register every single round as a "Destructive Device" @ $200 a pop.
Training ammo is available though.

Much as I like Bang-sticks - this is total madness.
I doubt that a new GPMG/FN-MAG 58 or whatever our Former Colonial brethren choose to call it costs $2,000, let alone $175,000.00
Will somebody really pay that much to compensate for his own tiny dick?

The money spent on ammo may cost even more, depends how much
you decide to use.
Frankly it is a bit expensive, I would probably save the money and get a Aston Martin DB9 instead.

But ....but... but
Will somebody really pay that much to compensate for his own tiny dick?
LOL
Considering that some people will pay over half a million for a car... I guess the answer is yes ;)
It's a guy thing that's hard for those more in touch with their feminin side to understand :D

What a ridiculous price. Well, it is a sellers market. It would actually be cheaper to buy the license to manufacture guns and then make one.
174K!?
Christ, that's 5 or 6 M2HBs or at least 2 GE miniguns...35 MP5s...
Ridiculous.

Durandal, I don't wanna start a flame war, but last time I checked a transferable MP5 was more like $13K not $5K and the very few miniguns I've seen for sale has been around $300K. The M2HB price on the other hand seems right on the mark.

I don't know if it's cheaper...btw people want real/original stuff, not home made clones ;)

No flame war, just fact...
Rebuilt miniguns...60K. The one I saw for 75K was down at Knob Creek. i have no picture of it to prove it.

MP5 lower receiver with NFA trigger group 650.00...

The question is, are you buying a collectors piece that you will never fire or will are you buying a gun to shoot?
You can roll a Valmet for under 10K...
A Browning M1919 for under 17K
An OLD collectors water cooled 1919 for under 19K.
The point is, there are deals out there. You can find almost any NFA firearm for cheaper than people think.

OK I see why our price estimates differ so much, comparing prices on transferable MGs vs. post samples or even pre samples is never gonna be fair.

everytime something like this pops up people always bring up the small dick comment. people that buy these normally could care less about the price as they are worth millions. more often then not they are a collector or maybe a museum will buy it. a 1959 gibson les paul(a guitar that if bought new today will cost around 2 grand) sold on ebay for 300,000 dollars us. a small plastic part from the original which is not important to the guitar and today costs 5 bucks if you get ripped off went for 15 grand. people buy these things as they may not only be collectors but it is a reat investment.

Yeah but that guitar would have a vintage of its own, not be only a couple of years old.
You could probably l&d one for a fraction of that amount.. I'm trying to remember, but i'm pretty sure the Mag58's + SF kits are worth a bit.. maybe 8 grand? i could be talking out my arse here though. ;)

OR join the armed forces. You get one shoved in your hands, free ammo + training and get paid while doing it all. Only downside come the day of war you will see buddies killed, cocktails injected in you, get shot yourself, fight for oil...list goes on and on

It means that the average citizen can own it in those states that allow them.
