My USMC Gear

[M1A2U2]

This is my full uniform of current day USMC items.
Everything is original and standard issue.


Instead of MOLLE, all of the USMC pouches are knowns as AITES which stands for Advanced Integrated Tactical Equipment System. This is the canteen pouch.


This is the inside label of the Grenade pouch with the USMC stamp on it.


This is the AITES Saw Pouch


This is an AITES triple pouch mag holder. It holds six mags and is attached to a leg panel.


This is my other triple pouch but it is attached to the interceptor vest instead of the side panel.


This is an AITES grenade pouch which i have mixed in with a MOLLE one. Notice the slight difference in design.


This is the AITES drop leg holster as well as a closer shot below.

Really nice set-up.
I've been looking at replacing my Blackhawk Strike pouches with the MOLLE/AITES versions. There is a noticable difference in color between the two, and I like the AITES version of Coyote better than the BH version.

Out of interest, what gear were you issued with? Because aside from the Interceptor, I've just got a few pouches on there... six mag pouches and a couple of dump pouches, the radio thingy and a CamelBak. Oh, and a pair of hatch kneepads... but they were like US$18 or something like that.

those are BHI STRIKE pouches M1, I've got 1x3 mag pouch, 2x1 mag pouch, 1x large upright pouch with PALS/STRIKE strips, 1x med pouch w/ velcro. I'm quite happy with them, thanks, and don't see any real reason to swap them all over (I just got them a couple weeks ago) to AITES pouches! :-)

Shoulder strap is for the M16a4. You cant have a full marine set up unless youre wearing AITES

As for the AITES gear... It's been my experience that apart from issue gear, many Marines (as do many other soldiers) tend to customise their gear heavily. To this end, I've known Marines who wear all sorts of stuff that isn't AITES - one had a similar BHI pouch setup to me (my rig is actually based now on his advice), another Marine I know was using an LBV he'd found somewhere and gotten past his gunny, etc.
In any case, my stuff works and looks the part (plus has the Official Word of Coolness from a Marine ;-) ), and a lot of the gear is new, so I'm reluctant to change it at this point.

Don't get me wrong, I think M1's got a ton of cool stuff, and I'm impressed by it all, and I'm not questioning his experience or anything like that... just saying that I don't think one requires AITES gear to have a full Marine setup. That said, I certainly would've been a lot more receptive towards finding a set were it not for the fact that I just got all my BHI pouches. Matter of economics more'n anything else ;-)
