Can anybody help me out here....
In the Canadian army after Sgt the ranking system goes WO, MWO and CWO. Can anbody tell me what is the equivelent to Warrant Officer(WO), Master Warrant Officer(MWO) and Chief Warrant Officer(CWO) in US Army Ranking system??
In the canadian Army WO, MWO and CWO are NCO's by the way.
I dont know the equivalent to the specific ranks as to which outranks the other but the current WO ranking system for the US Army is as follows with W5 being the highest ranking:
W1 - Warrant Officer
W2 - Chief Warrant Officer 2 CW2
W3 - Chief Warrant Officer 3 CW3
W4 - Chief Warrant Officer 4 CW4
W5 - Chief Warrant Officer CW5

hmmm...I think i figured it out
Warrant Officer(WO) = Staff Sgt(SSG)

Master Warrant Offier(MWO) = Sergeant First Class(SFC)
http://www.army.dnd.ca/lf/Images/1_0/non_mwo.jpg http://www.defenselink.mil/pubs/almanac/almanac/people/insignias/images/AR_SFC_E7.gif
Chief Warrant Officer(CWO) = Master Sergeant(MSG)

Cause in the Canadian Army they also have appointments such as Chief Warrant Officer of a higher formation

Im thinking thats equivalent to a Sergeant Major(US)

Then after that there's Command Chief Warrant Officer

and obviously it'd be the equivalent to Command Sergeant Major(US).

Then finally its Canadian Forces Chief Warrant Officer
http://www.army.dnd.ca/lf/Images/1_0/app_forces.jpg
and that'd be the equivalent to Sergeant Major of the Army(US)

An American warrant officer would outrank a Canadian warrant officer of equivalent promotion level.
Canadian warrant officers are the equivalent of American Staff-Noncomissioned Officers.
American warrant officers are categorized both in protocol and in status as "officers". They even attend the same Officer's club and live in the same billet housing as the regular officers.
The American military has basically three categories:
1) Enlisted men...who have their own clubs and billet housing.
2)Staff NCO's...who have their own clubs billet housing and dont rate salutes.
3)Officers, which includes Warrants...who have their own clubs and billet housing and are the only ones who rate a salute.

while you americans are learning the Canadian system please also learn the BRITISH one to.
BTW why do warrant officers get saluted? British armed forces have never saluted warrants.

This might have something to do with the fact that an Officer has taken the Queens commission and a WO is still a NCO. Don't quote me on that though.

True. In the UK and Commonwealth you are saluting the Queen's
Commission and ergo the Queen not the officer. A Warrant Officer, as the name suggests holds only a Warrant from the Queen, not her Commission.
