So I just ordered some kit from http://www.flecktarn.co.uk/
Highly recommended for those of us in the US looking for foreign kit.
Very reasonable prices. For example Ive been looking for some Soldier95 trousers for a while now. They sell on the US ebay for $60 when they are rarely listed! I got a pair for $24. They are supposed to be used but look brand spanking new to me.
Shiping was also very reasonable ($12) for several items, and it got here in less than a week!

My order came in very quick, about a week and I'm in the US. Haven't actually checked it out yet, but it was a little bit expensive :petting: I wouldn't have minded paying less and getting slower delivery.

Just had a look at the army-surplus.co.uk site and it seems a they have some ggod dealss on there. They're selling the webtex combat vest that I use for Just under £85 which is good by anyones standards. I used that vest for 5 months in Iraq and it was a very good vest, holds boat loads of kit and is very comfortable.

We've all been bummed mate. By a bloke that got kicked out of the big c*ck society on the grounds that his c*ck was just obscenely big.... :|
I've only ever met two guy with ripstop trousers, both were storemen!
The goss is that everyone is meant to be issued one set of ripstops for the field. I don't know anyone that has been. I bet there's a big f***-off warehouse somewhere down south with 100,000 sets of ripstop trousers awaiting 'war issue' or something. I also put money on them appearing amongst RLC drivers first if they ever are issued!
Scratch that, I reckon (Buff) Hoon sold them off a few years back with his wonderous 'last minute contract' system of outfitting the army. They're probably the ones on sale on the website. The d*ck :bash:

Thanks for the info mate I just might pass that on to my clothing storeman, though he should already have it!!!
Gone are the days when I buy my own kit, though saying that I do buy my own boots. Wearing Lowe Combat at the moment, top boots though a little on the heavey side. Really I think that our issue kit isn't too bad at the moment, a lot better than when I first joined and had boots combat high issued, lost a lot of skin to those things. Also the combats now are fairly good quality.
Best bit of kit I've been issued was the jungle bag, like an american poncho liner but with a zip. Got that for our little jaunt down to the gulf.
I bet you can remember some clothing disasters Sabre??

Still got the day-glo RAF stuff?
I bet you can remember some clothing disasters Sabre??
Not really, but having said that I was issued lightweights when I first joined...
...in 2001!!!! :|
That was a bit of a joke. 95s for the field but lightwieghts for barracks. At least I managed to avoid the 'jersey heavy wool'!
I've got a pair of Lowa Combats too, I find they're great if you aren't planning on doing anything terribly active, or getting wet. I'm quite keen on my Alt Bergs at the moment. I've got a pair of Defender MkIII 'microlights'. They are just the ticket for slightly warmer/wetter, more active use. They're not goretex so they 'walk dry', even in the cold and wet. I find Lowas turn into your private foot spa if you give them a good dunking. :|
I've spent far too much on kit, but I've come to realise that most of the issue stuff is fine. Webbing is great, better than any other country's kit. Bergan is fine for tabbing, miles better than yankee equivalent. I've definately come to appreciate the issue doss bag, it's marvelous! The whole sleeping/basha system is great. 95s are fine, although they do tear easily they are light enough to dry quickly. The assault boots could be really good, if only they made a few changes. They need to put in a flexible panel where the achillies is (like in most other boots, even pro boots), they could also do with having a padded collar and decent shaped insoles.
I think he was ex-Para...with many missing front teeth...maybe he has moved from Brecon to Sheffield then.
And a really scraggy handlebar moustache? Yep, he's still in Brecon!

Yeah, I've got a set of both. I prefer the older stuff too. The pockets are very useful and the wire helps to keep the sh*t out. The trousers are miles better too, the side zips make them much easier to use.

My trousers have got zips, except when you unzip them its like wearing a pair of bloody flares :| no wire hood alas
ANy of you lot know where I could get my hands on one of those yank poncho liner thingys?

I've been looking for one for a while.
Seen some on ebay, but they go for around £30! Otherwise, they're from the states and go for $10, but I don't know what the P&P would be. They come highly recommended. Great for wrapping around yourself on stag, or as a light doss bag in the summer.

Just had a look at that and y'know it looks legit...right down to the wavy stitching on it and for £7.99 its a good price. I'd still try for a jungle bag though, it has the ties for putting it into a poncho but the zip as well. folds down to about the size of a softie 9.

£19.99 is a F**k of a good price to pay, and arktis make good stuff but do tend to be overpriced plus there DPM material is a little on the bright side, more like the NZ pattern stuff.
