So... Who here does a bit of art in there spare time, specifically Military/Law-Enforcement related 'art'? :)

Here's some Pixel-Art 'drawings' I've done recently (mainly when I'm bored)...

http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/500/3459projectantimaterial.png
This is like a 'personalized' (made it look better, not so blocky ;)) Barrett.

http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/500/3459idfstyleepixup.png?2995
Did this after seeing pictures of the IDF's Puma and Nagmachon (posted on here of course ;)). It's kind of a 'heavier' cross between the two.

http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/500/3459projectarmored.png
Just did this one of of sheer boredom.

:D

So, come on and post some of your own stuff! woot

Nics pics btw.

somewhat, the name "study and observations group was a candy coated name given to cover the real intent/name of the group SOG. either way the focus of my little game aka my logo and the time it takes place in 20-25 years future is purely fictional. alot of the underequipped bad guys will have stuff you see today, but thats about it. sog in my game is simply groups of soldiers picked for specific reasons from all branches to join in black ops.

MACV-SOG was the joint service high command unconventional-warfare task force engaged in highly classified clandestine operations throughout Southeast Asia. It was given the title "Studies & Observation Group" as a cover. The joint staff was allegedly performing an analysis of the lessons learned to that point in the Vietnam War, but it was actually a special operations group with distinct command decision authority. The two Russian small Russian Sub-Guns and AI.50 were some of the first guns drawn while the others were done much later. So you can see the change in style (a lot cleaner) over the course of a year. Therre are a total of 600 images drawn for this project, of which 500 were used. I was the Art Director and contributed close to 1/2 of the images while three other illustrators did the others.[/img]

Well, being a cgi artist for games and the like, i do have some "art" (if i can call it that) of emoticons... militarized. apaches to m249s.

I made them most so anyone, even using paint, can copy/paste the parts, and put them together to make a scene of something. And its fairly easy actually, you don't need much experience, eventhough I used Photoshop 7... i lost paint somewhere on my computer :|

anyway, here you are:

Aircraft:

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/smilecomics/aircraft.gif

Includes Variations of the Littlebird, AH-6 & MH-6, with and without benches. AH-64 Apache, with Hellfire rack, and halo 70 rocket pod, rack already included, hellfire missles are seperate, under the rotor. UH-60 Blackhawk, with door, m134 minigun, stub wing with rack for extra fuel tanks, or hellfires.

Vehicles:
http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/smilecomics/vehicles.gif

Includes M1A1 and HMMVW, with two mounted weapons, M2 .50 cal browning machine gun, and the Mk19 40mm MGL.

Weapons:
http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/smilecomics/weapons.gif
Includes: M249, RPG-7, Mk23, P9S, DE (and in gold, just for fun), Glock 18c, SW40T, SW629, Five seveN, MP7, FAMAS G2, Styer Aug, OLD version of the XM29(OICW), Mac10, PKM, M21, MP5N, MP5A5, MP5NSD, MP5SD5, MP5K, Spas-12, Remmington 870, Mossberg M590A1, Spas-15, USAS-12, AK47, Chicom type-56, AK74, PSG-1, MacMillan Tactical .50cal Sniper rifle, M82 Berret, SL8-1SD, Uzi, P90, UMP .45, USC, G11, Various grenades and knives from KA-Bar, to a Kuhkuri Guhkra, M4A1 (SOPMOD), M16A2, and a M60. There's a pile of boxes of ammo, theres some C4 and dynamite aswell. All weapons that are in groups, are organized acording to: Which magazine(s) they use, and what kind of weapon it is. You can see some weapons are flipped, because those are the ones I made more recently, so I acomidated for the few tiny pixels that make up the fire selection, and eject port, aswell as some other minor details.
All weapon magazines are outside the weapon, in case you feel like having someone reloading, who knows, it just seems a bit easier to have the magazines outside the weapn, and in various shapes aswell. The MP5 series weapons grouped up, for example, have a standard 9mm 30 round magazine, then theres a 15 round, then they have a 30 round 10mm. in case you want someone with a MP5A5/10 :D

Weapon Attachments:
http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/smilecomics/weapon_attachments.gif

Collum on the left is silencers, first group in the second, is flashlights, applicable to M4, MP5, and wherever the hell you think it looks cool. then it goes to lasersights.
third collum, first 2 pieces are duckbills for shotguns, then it goes onto various grenade launchers, M203E1, to BG-15.
The 4th collum is odd attachments, first, bayonet, second, top rail for M4 and M16, third, foregrip, 4th, headrest that goes ona buttstock, 5th, tripod, 6th, wood foregrip(for your ak47s), 7th, bipod (can't see both sides), 8th & 9th, foregrip for shotguns, basicly a pistol grip that slides on.
the 5th collum is all scopes, various sizes, feel free to take the huge ones, and put them on a mp5k.

Examples of weapons:
http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/smilecomics/preloadedguns.gif

Here are some examples of weapons, it uses at least one of each weapon from the weapon list, and throws attachments on them, and puts the magazines in the correct spot, so you can roughly see what they might look like, if you were to customize them yourself. Some are silly, yes, but some actually look kinda badass, its up to you, want a bunch of SEALs with psg-1s loaded with ak47 magazines with grenade launchers slung under? Whos stopping you? paint sure won't. ;)

Ah, yes, now on to the actual faces! :D

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/smilecomics/character.gif
Some things are older then others. We've got tons of faces, from various angles, masks, plain, camo, and a unique one for each "person". Theres tons of stuff, to, uh, dress someone up i suppose i can say.

Please note: the guy in the bottom right is a Work in progress, i saw the character in hood's avatar, and i couldn't resist, so i shrunk it down and started messing with it, meanwhile everything will be simple like :bash: that... though... more intense. We have gas masks, skater helmets, swamp hats, vietnam helmets, more modern helmets, tubans, mouth clothes, cowboy hats, bandanas, cigs, joints, cigars, glasses, goggles, and yes... of course, a sombrero.

The things next to the faces, are the matching Arms to the body, so you can place arms acordingly, to make it look like the face is holding the gun. Pretty simple once you start messing with it. and on the top there are camo arms, in case you want someone to blend in more, as if they were wearing a uniform, who knows.

And thats about all you need to make things.

I origionaly made these for a game i played a lot, and did some art (not smilie faces) for.

I have some shorts, and various animations of nothing important. Some are gorey, yes, i'll put a * for each level of gorieness or violence next to the link. (based on mx of 5 stars, no stars if there isn't any violence.)

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/smilecomics/rambo_humvee.gif
Rambo Humvee -> *
A humvee gets shot at with an rpg-7 and drives away and is blown up.

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/smilecomics/choppa.gif
Choppa -> ***
A person fast ropes down from a chopper, and blows up two people with a 20mm from his xm29 while they're blabbing on about something, leaves a nice crater.

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/smilecomics/learning2snipe.gif
Learning-2-Snipe -> ****
A sniper shoots, and his eye pops out and flies against the wall, aparently holding the scope too close, then he gets shot, and a moment later his other eye randomly explodes and falls down to earth.

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/smilecomics/c4.gif
C4 -> ****
A person plants some c4, then gets shot while running away. Another person walks over to the c4, and starts to disarm it, then he blows up. Some of you have probobly seen something like this in games.

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/smilecomics/test01.gif
Test Comic -> **
Actually my first animation comic. There is some loud crashing from down a hall, then a guy with an ak47 comes down, and feels a .50ae round go through his head, well what else, he's a smilie face for gods sake.

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/smilecomics/headshot.gif
Head shot ->***
Much like those really lame festival events, wher eyou get some gun, and you shoot stuff, but it never breaks. A bunch of smilie faces on a treadmill get shot one by one as they pass buy a guy with a gun, the last one throws a grenade and blows the guy with the gun up.

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/thepaintest2.gif
M1A1 -> No stars
Simpily an M1A1 that rolls into view, and fires off a couple rounds. It was going to be longer, but it was my first animation with a vehicle.

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/forwardtest.gif
Test shooting -> No stars
A face with an m16 fires off 3 round bursts aiming towards the screen, don't worry, 1 pixel isn't even a milimeter. ;)

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/explosion.gif
Explosion -> 1/2* (explosions are scary)
an explosion in slow motion. Looks cooler when its faster :P

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/m4reload.gif
M4 Reload -> No stars
A guy shooting off an m4 with a supressor, then reloading, because I wanted to see how a reloading animation would work... and its a lot of trouble :lol:

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/mac10.gif
Mac-10 -> No stars
A face shooting a mac-10 with the largest mac10 magazine you've ever seen.

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/mp5sd.gif
MP5SD -> No stars
A mp5sd being fired, notice how the recoil effects the arms more then the face itself, i thought it was a nice touch :P

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/outnowhere.gif
Out of No Where -> *****
Basicly an execution on a bunch of mario bros. style pit of spikes, then a guy with a tricked out m4 comes in, shoots everyone up, watch for shell casings if you wonder why someone dies. The guy on top gets scared, as you can see from the dropping of his mouth, then he ditches his ak47, and runs away.

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/pdw.gif
PDW/MP7 -> No stars
A PDW/MP7 being fired and a rain of shells coming out... but later i found out that the mp7 fires caseless rounds... :(

http://www.rlqm.com/vorpaldoom/sigtest.gif
Signature -> ***
An animation for my signature on a nother forum, a guy walks infront of a sniper, then gets shot, and the blood spells out my Alias. "VorpalDoom". Hood, can i use it on this forum? :D

They were going to make a PDW pistol firing the casless rounds from the G11 but the idea was ditched alonside the G11. They were also going to make an LMG variant.

ok, i found out what was going on... the PDW 90 (first version of the weapon) fired casless rounds, then the MP7 version didn't, and theres some newer version, forgot what its called. Anyway, the gun there is a pdw90, but i suppose i can call it a mp7, looks virtualy the same. :D

Does someone wanna make me a cool desktop like the one in the link, using different pics from this site? I don't know how hard that would be.....

I've had this one for a while and it's pretty old, then I changed it to the hot swedish chick from the babes thread, ( http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5649&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=40 )

since then I've only been motivated to look at internet ****, the cool military wallpaper would motivate me to go running or something and then look at internet ****, or maybe just look at chicks with guns....

yah a bit. its actually for a table top minitaure rpg ala space marines. it is currently shelved while i tackle some minor freelance in addition to my job. i need to design about 100 suits of future armor plus all the other various types of personell. although i think unlike the star ship trooper armor this is not mechanical assisted (not sure if that heavier star ship trooper armor was or not, ive seen pictures of it)

my reasoning for my guy not having mechanically assisted armor is basically, look at medieval times, with that heavy armor a warrior was still able to swing a sword pretty fast and move a bit. (as seen on that gay cancelled show on the history channel) granted he could not run very far etc but that was medieval.

today we could easily make the equivalent full body armor suit out of cutting edge alloys and have it be way lighter than the medieval suit. granted it would cost a pretty penny but then so did the medieval suit.

now picture the guy i drew comes from 200 some odd years in the future. i figure by then in a "elseworld" that his armor doesnt weigh much at all, and he has minimal leg armor. he is basically wearing a future strike plate all over and half helmet mask. i figure him to be wearing 50lbs of armor not including gun and supplies but also he is base supplemented by genetic strength enhancement commonly used by the future militaries. so i figure he is still pretty fast all things considered without mechanical gryo anti grav whatever help.

later on i was going to design the heavy hitters who would be able to take direct heavy munitions from troops and still be alive and moving.

thx for your comment!

Ratamacue

Actually, there's no real drawing of how the powered armor from Starship Troopers looks like except for some artists interpretations. According to the book, you basically look like a giant metal gorilla equipped with enough firepower to take on platoons of tanks (self-loading missile launcher aka Y-Rack, nuclear missile launcher, flamethrower, etc.) as well as a jumpjet. The whole concept behind it is extremely advanced and not too farfetched for a book written in 1959 (DARPA has begun development on powered exoskeletons recently). Here's a couple concepts of the armor:

http://www.wegrokit.com/stpl86.jpg

I never saw the CGI show, but I heard it was actually pretty good. What's your opinion?

As for the comic version, is that named "Uchuu no Senshi" or something like that? If so, I haven't seen that either but I have seen that version of the powered armor, and it's definitely one of the better interpretations.

hmmmm no clue what the comics name was, i know dark horse published it and i think it focued soley on the fully amored troopers.

the cgi focused on a fully suited troop squad although they did not look as heavy as the... well, heavy ones. i think they were fully suited in the way of "exploring a atmosphere" and decent protection rather than suited for kicking ass. they also had a mid size mech tag along with them for support. it was decent in the way it showed you more of the world so its a good companion to the movie. i think the longer it dragged on though it became more like stargate where they would meet some alien species or something every other time. 1st season was fun though.

What do you mean by Star Wars 6? I don't think it came out yet. and about2?
I did not really think of Star Wars when drawing it mostly came from Mech Warrior type fantacy stuff.... I have toons of drawings simmilar, especialy aircraft, although they are distinctive and similar.

No... That's from Mi 24 "hind" idea.... I usually do that, try to make something futuristic with something that is older.

If I'm not mistaking I do think that those flying troop transsporters in Star Wars 5 were copied from Mi 24 as well.

Eyes= cocpit, canopy.
Nose= Air intake ports.

Hope its ok to post some of these because they aren't exactly a drawing/painting or whatever.

Memphiz has got the family scanner so I can't scan any doodles I've done with pen and pencil for a while, but I do do a lot of work on the computer here. I do concept work for a few military mods I work on as well as textures (or skins as they are more commonly known) for models.

First off I've done some camoflauge patterns myself to apply to the player models. I also have a friend in the Australian Armed Forces who shares my interest in Camoflauge patterns and has access to a wide collection of them, so he's created a number of them for me which I then repaint a little and use. Anyhow here's basic German flecktarn I did.

http://www.sas.jolt.co.uk/lone_pred/flecktarn.jpg

Heres some basic concept I did for generic Marine models. They aren't supposed to be entirely accurate because the texture I did on them could be representing anything from american to russian soldiers. Anyhoww...

http://www.sas.jolt.co.uk/lone_pred/marines.jpg (120kb or something so I linked it)

Two British SAS soldier variation skins I've done, that are ingame and posing. I also did the texture on the weapons they are holding.

hooyah,

These guys are probably US Marines in late Viet nam war. After 69' the Corps have begun to issue their GI with ERDL camo jungle fatiuges.
I have some of that uniforms in my wardrobe. Their look(sorry for my english;) ) is exactly the same as the TCU OG-107 III-class jungle uniform, but covered in camo, tghat is simillar to RDF. It was previous of the woodland camoufladge. Designed in 1966, worn by special forces and later by GIs till later 70s.
Marines often worn only t-shirts, but not everyone, well... it's only a graphic. The've got standart USMC M61 webbing with E-tools on it and M1 helmets in Mithcel Leafpattern camo with ordinary gum holding it.

SOG = Special Operations Group (thats the US military acronym)

thatguy96
03-29-2004, 10:37 AM
Actually SOG stands for Studies and Observation Group...a facade designed to slightly hide what they were really up to. This activities soon became clear, and that led to the acronym being informally translated as the Special Operations Group.

On those Lock-On screenshots, can you fly the Cobra or is it just a computer simulated vehicle? I didnt know you can fly the F-14 either in it.
