Not really buddy. Were just paying more attention to it. And as to the attacks in Iraq, they wouldnt be going on if there was no foreign troop presence there. The war is working. But were only seeing the tip of the iceberg, and thats why were gonna hafta work 3 times harder to achieve what we want.

I have an awesome solution. How about give in demands to terrorists so next time if someone want their voice to be heard and all they have to do is blow up a church, a school, a building.
jdbjdb
11-21-2003, 01:20 AM
That would be nice but one problem, even with our technology its still a difficult task to locate the terrorist, and sleeper cells, (damn racial profiling)

As for Israel, the Second Intifada started way before 9/11. It started before Bush was even elected President.
And as for al-Qaeda:
1993: First World Trade Center bombing.
1993: Evidence exists that al-Qaeda was involved in Somalia.
1996: Khobar towers bombed.
1998: US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania bombed.
1999: al-Qaeda plot to bomb Los Angeles International Airport foiled.
2000: Attack on USS Cole.
I could do the same for Hezbollah, but I don't feel like looking up locations and dates right now. The point is: any insinuation that the world was relatively free of terrorism before Operation Enduring Freedom is both naive and wrong.

i didn't say that, i said that it hasn't done a single thing to stop terror...name one thing that has been accomplished by the war on terror (legally(under international law)) that justifies two invasions???
after two and a half years billions of dollars and over 50,000 deaths what does the Bush administration have to show? and read this carefully...that legally and morally justifies the events of the past two years....
Terror attacks have increased since the war on terror started that's a fact.

Could you quote some statistics for those 50,000 deaths?

The military engagements in Iraq and Afghanistan has only resulted in more terror than less. It became so easy for them to recruit more and more volunteers... Just look the arabian TV.. They showing 24/7 how badly the arabs are treated by the western, mainly the US... its like a huge brain-wash.
Fighting against terror is not mainly a military task, but a political. Its about winning their minds. So unless the western countries are able to convince them to substain from "terror as they only solution" we will fail. We need to give the people a future, something worth to live for. I mean look the suicide-bombers are willing to give up their lives, in hope to have a better "after-life". They are only focused on this. I say, give them a future in "this life" and we will win.
So its all about convincing and not about focing like the US is trying with their military right now.

maybe i was exaggerating a bit but look at it this way.
3000 deaths 9/11
200 approx US military losses in afghanistan
10 to 20,000 Taliban and AQ KIA's.
<10,000 Afghan civilian deaths
up to 20,000 Iraqi fedayeen deaths
just about 500 US KIA's nearly 2000 wounded
"very" close to 10,000 iraqi civilian deaths.

so???
why are we still being bombed
My mother was in Istanbul about 2 weeks ago and i would lay total blame on the US if she had been 'caught' up in a terror attack thanks to total luck she wasn't.
She also lives in Saudi Arabia and works in the Republican Guard hosipital a target for AQ. The US isn't telling us a lot about SA's involvement in 9/11 and therefore i would and do hold them responsible for the/any terror attacks in SA.

Its typically that you would blame the deaths of 9/11 on Bush
The way I see it, the War on Terrorism has been a success. No major terrorist attack in the U.S. post 9/11. Al Qaeda is no longer "the base" driven the Taliban out of Afghanistan, and taken Saddam and his two biological weapons, Uday and Qusay, off the map and . . . . oh ! wait a second! We've taken the fight to them.
That is plenty to show for.

Ummm who here thinks that Afghanistan was not a good move? Not only was it supported by the ENTIRE world...or at least the parts that matter...but it was done about a legally as you can.
I will name one thing that the war on terror has accomplished:
Terrorists are no longer running around the world and networking with impunity. The war is sucking up resources from small groups and individuals, both in man power and cash reserves that could have been spent on targets in other nations.
Like it or not that is an accomplishment...a solid one.

Why are terrorist attacks up?
Desperate people will do desperate things when they sense their own demise is near...

Yes, terrorist attacks are up... in Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Both countries who were distancing themselves from Bush's War on Terrorism. How'd they not see this coming by making themselves easier targets.

The Royal family should be kicking themselves, they are the ones that created the militants in the kingdom, and now they want the royals out, but The United States will bail them out again, no worries

I would say cut Turkey's military aid, but that would be bad for both countries, same with Saudi Arabia, but why help Turkey when they wouldn't allow The United States military to use their country as a staging point to open up a northern front on Iraq?

Ahh, i thought you meant that some Turks were saying the US carried out the bombings and then said it was Al Qyida or however they spell their name these days. If anyone is interested i can post the letters the Sun(right wing) and the Mirror (left wing) published showing peoples views on the bombings in Turkey and the protests in London.
