Ridiculous propaganda, but interesting none-the-less, and great footage!
Ahhh the cold war... Nice find Roldwin. Lots of good Soviet footage.
Ridiculous propaganda, but interesting none-the-less, and great footage!Ridiculous propaganda? Perhaps you were asleep durring the cold war but that's just the way everything that mentioned the other side was done back then. If cold war propaganda could be compared to alcoholic beverages, those videos were a small glass of 4.5% apple cider. Believe me, it gets harder. :P
And nothing from the cold war (at least in terms of US propaganda) could compare to the white lightning we were churning out durring World War II.

Very good vidio.
Thank you for posting.
For those ignorant savages The reality of the post WW-2 age was far different then what people saw, because the US, the UK, and others where there every day keeping the USSR at bay, as you, your fathers, and fathers fathers were allowed to have healthy, safe productive lives under the umbrella of freedom provided for you. A great many people died in the cold war years!

Great vid. A little cheesy and overdone at points, but the basic premise and reasons for containing the Soviets are/were correct.

A little cheesy! Are you nuts? It is very, very cheesy. ;-)
1987! They took film clips from the late 60s, and 70s, Script from the 50s, and 60s. By 1987 few people had any idea of what a WarSaw Pack was, or that we even had troops in Germany. But even at that I still liked it, but a little Ashamed of the quality, and kind of work that was don on it. Although very real, and truthful, it looks to much like a 1960s recruiting film, and nothing at all like what a 1987 recruiting film should have looked like.
Again I thank the poster of these great clips.

I hope someone can host them so you can see them.
If not I may post them on one of my sites for a few days,
but it would be a real pain for me to do so.

Great set of videos! Uber cheesy but also a good insight into the mindset of some people and institutions in the 1980s.
Great footage of Soviet equipment (BMPs, Mig-21s, Mig 29s, T72s, Grad and other launchers, Hinds, Mi8s, Mi17s, etc) and US equipment (M60s, Abrams, Bradleys, AH1s, Apaches, etc).
Some damn funny moments too -- apart from the general cheesiness of it all -- such as the ****ounciation of "Leopard II" as "Leo-pard".
Then there was the most ironic line ever:
"The grand stategy of the USSR is to attain its objectives by a means just short of war; by using superior force to create fear and to cause countries to give up without a fight. Their superior forces enable them to support subversive activities."
