Got me one of these Glock 81 knives. Not bad for $18. Has a saw-back with alternating teeth, so it feels like it actually would cut through roots or branches pretty alright, unlike the saw on the back of my machete (Ontario). Color is black.

Anyone got any experience with them? Good, bad, better? I'm assuming the blade is coated with the same stuff as Glock pistol slides?

I have found that the saw-back doesn't work.
The coating is not the same as on the pistols.

Its an "ok" field knife, but you'd be better off with a Fallkniven F1

The knifes are ok if you consider their price, but that's about it.

The coating is not very durable, the blade tends to rust, the tip of the blade is not really pointed; The saw is pretty useless if you want to cut wood. I heard it was designed to cut metal sheets - but there is the Field Knife 78 that comes without the saw.

Still, for 18$ the knife is well suited for any (ab)use in the field, remember it's not a combat knife like the Fällkniven.

I have got this knife for two years.
Really good one, with that price.
Nothing to complain on, expect the rusting.,
One night in wet, and knife is gettnig rusty :/

My entire short three 1/2 years in the Army and the only reason that my knife ever left it's sheath was to open MRE's . That's no joke

IMHO: It's the best knife that, that kind of money can buy.
As an all purpose, go anywhere, don't care if it get's lost knife, it works great.
Got one without the saw now for about 6 months, remember to put some oil on there now and again and it won't rust as much ;)

Well it ain't bad for $18.

5jumpchump: I'm sorry your experience with knives was so limited.

If it dn't work, I've got a billion more.

One time we were out in the field . We set up and were kind of board so we took a sheet of plywood and proped it up against a tree to throw our knives at it . My team chief throws his knife and it hit the board flat and snapped in half . The regular Army issue knives for the US Army suck . Made of graphite i believe . Brittle as hell . Worthless . Good for movies i guess .

Where did you pick yours up for $18.00?

5jumpchump,

You talking about the M9? I broke a few. The Ontario ones are high quality, the rest is ****.

Valk: At my place of work.

This knife should do fine. The sheath allows me to have my shirt untucked for casual wear, yet still have the knife at qucik access, not hidden.

HAHAHAA I'm sure you could find a way, might require some duct tape though!

Bought mine for $30. Tough little scrapper too. I finally bent the blade but I was using it for a purpose for which it was not intended (prying into some brick). As for the rust? Its metal, dude. Ive had mine for over a year and other than the coat coming off of the blade, no rust. Damn good knife.
