View Full Version : Navy SEALs in Afghanistan
Hey everyone, I am looking for photos of Navy SEALs in Afghanistan. I have seen the photos on this site and I am trying to find out/ look for new photos. I know that it is hard to find them, but if anyone here knows where some are could you please tell me cause that would be great.
By the way, in the first SOCOM, they show clips of a video of SEALs entering a village. I think it was when they were looking for a site to set up Camp Rhino. Does anyone know where I could find this video?
Thanks everyone! :D

In SOCOM, that vid they have in the game has some pretty amazing stories by former NAVY SEALs. Very Heroic stories especially the one in VIETNAM.
The story about Mike Thornton is the one you are talking about. I find it interesting that Mike Thornton saved Tom Norris, the second SEAL to recieve the MoH.
The three SEALs to receive the Medal of Honor if you don't know:
Bob Kerry - 1969
Tom Norris - April 1972
Mike Thornton - October 1972

Read the book The Warrior Elite, the first part talks all about Tom Norris, Mike Thornton, and that guy Kim who got shot in Op. Just Cause. All those guys were in the SOCOM Documentary.

I have read The Warrioir Elite. **** Couch is writing a new book, The Finishing School: Earning the Trident that is going to come out in March 2004.
"That guy Kim who got shot in Op. Just Cause" is not correct. That guy's name is Donald Kim Erskine. He was a commanding officer of SEAL Team Six. To let you know, it WAS NOT OPERATION JUST CAUSE, it was OPERATION URGENT FURY in Greneda in 1983. Incredible story: leads his mean although he nearly got his elbow shot off. He recieved the Silver Star for his actions.
Read Navy SEALs: A History - Post-Vietnam to the Present and The Warrioir Elite to get more information on Erskine.

Thanks for the correction, been a while since I read it. At the end it did mention he was working on a book about STT, I'll have to get that come March. You plan on one day becoming a SEAL one day?

Sorry, I didn't want to sound mean to you. I just want people to know the right facts. Im sorry if I sounded like a jerk.
You plan on one day becoming a SEAL one day? I have a lot of mixed opinions on that... When I graduate college, Im going into the military as an officer, but I am deciding which branch (either Navy or Air Force).
I have the greatest respect for SEALs and all Special Operations groups.
By the way, does anyone else know where I can find pics of SEALs in Afghanistan? I dont want to get off the subject.
Try the mega SEAL picture thread.
