In this image taken from video, the body of a US soldier lies on the ground in Mosul, Iraq Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003. According to witnesses, gunmen shot two American soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division as they drove through the city center to another U.S. garrison, sending their vehicle crashing into a wall. Then, teenagers dragged their bodies from the vehicle and pummeled them with concrete blocks. (AP Photo/APTN)[/b]

Hood this thread is in breach of the forum rules about graphic content, you banned Spier for this very thing and disabled his account!
Are you going to take similar actions?
I'm not defending Hood, but you set a presedence in his banning for the same thing!!

Whilst I think your intentions were honourable, you have breached forum rules without warning the Graphic nature!!Was there any need to post this picture?

I've edited my post a bit. I did not wish to post such pictures here but this is a good picture of nature of people who you've just "liberated". And this one picture says more than 1000 words.
As for disrespect... Close-ups of throat cuts sent by Chechen bandits to relatives of victims - this is real disrespect. This pics doesn't disclose anything personal about victim what can hurt his family.

First i agree that the photo should be removed. Secondly the points i have made in this post are in no way connected with the photo. I was refering to the comments he made about 9/11 being a tragedy. I agree that 9/11 is a tragedy. I would also say that there is some element of truth in the point that either US polices, persons or sponsored persons/states enraged people to the point that they commited 9/11.

Why cant you look at the photo and just say I can't believe that is what happened to that man for my freedom. You are taking it the wrong way. If I had my brother or father over there and they said that my father or brother had been in an attack and that they had been ambushed and then I saw the pictures on tv, you know I would be upset but i would want with all my heart to see the TRUTH I would want to know exactly what happnned to them and what they finally lookeed like as they rested where they were. My those two soldiers family doesnt not feel like that, if the dont I understand. But stop looking at the photo in not a positive way, because I can assure you nothing it positive about it at all. But look at what he had to give and what happned to him in order for us to be where we are now.

I personally believe that when you go to another country you should respect their customs. So the same should apply, when you go to a website with a majority of Americans then you should try to respect their beliefs and attitudes. Posting pictures of dead Americans is going to cause problems with the Americans.
Why do you feel its ok for you to wipe your ass with a Russian flag when i'm pretty sure you'd get mildly upset if someone did it to an American flag.

Sarcasm doesn't come across very easily on the internet. Sarcasm is usually detected by tone of voice or facial expressions.
Looking at the forum rules then i think that the photo is not gory or graphic compared to other images that have been shown on here. However as it says in the rule, post a warning and then a link to the page containing the photo. I think thats what Kingpin should do here.

Oh well, i stand by my suggestion. Make a poll if you want, since everyone here will want the picture removed, seems like a waste of time to me.
2.5. Don't direct post gory or graphic images. If you must post such things, only provide a regular link with a large warning as to what to expect when someone clicks on it.
Kingpin, I'm not going to ban you because you've made good posts on here before this. From now on though, make sure you follow the above rule. If you feel the need to post such things, only provide the link, don't use an inline image tag so people see it immediately opening this thread.

You are right, there is no gore.
But imagine yourself as one of the dead soldier's best friend and comrade, ordered in to secure the area. You see your friend's lifeless body, bloody and beaten. Now what would you think about people sitting on their fat asses back home saying "Hey, cool." or "Whoa". It is disrespectful.
Put yourself in the shoes of the poor soldier's father or mother, brother or sister, wife or child. Would you want to see him lying helplessly after being beaten by concrete blocks? Come on, get some common sense.

Yea he is dead but I mean **** do you guys read books about war and see dead bodies in there and say," Oh no, there is a dead body. We shouldnt have that in their for respect for the solider." Maybe movies like Saving Private Ryan shoudlnt have been mad becasue they show images of dead bodies so that would proabbly bring back memories to some of the vets and cause them "disrespect" for showing what they had to go through and the price they had to pay to defend their nation and people. I find it ironic and disappointing to think that there was hardly any outrage at the posting of even more disturbing photos of dead Palestinians or Iraqis. Regardless of the fact that most of the pics were of dead terrorists I do remember them being much more graphic "Like ummm gee let me think...brains splattered across the road and a mushed in face that was blown to pieces". I'm quite disappointed at the two face policy many of the people on this post have taken toward human lives. You can't even tell that it is an American soldier or even who that soldier is. The only people who would know exactly who that soldier is would have to have at least seen the pic or something related to it. Thus how can kingpin possibly be disgracing that soldiers name. Well, I think it has a simple solution: "antiamericanism" is trendy. It is fashionable to interpret everything that happens around the world negatively toward USA. While in the same time treat his/hers country as as free of all reponsability.
About this incident in Mosul - people who did this, are surely not animals, or savages. It was mob. Mob is always brutal, primitive, acts instinctively and has it's own reason - hard to understand for other people, apart from the mob. The problem is that some people just can't hide their own pleasure whe hearing such news. And that's offend others....

I am far more disturbed to see a grieving Iraqi woman, grasping her dying child than the site of a dead American soldier. Why do you ask?
Well, a soldier takes on the commitment of combat responsibility and acknowledges he may die.
A family is drawn into a crossfire, has their home destroyed, their life is ripped apart in the name of freedom. Now that is sad.
It is pitiful how so many bear their teeth to those who show dead Americans, yet no one comments as the site of a scorched Iraqi child, burned alive in his car.

Yes I'm sure the families in Iraq heard the 'crossfire' of two warring groups and felt somehow drawn towards the gunfire. Please save your tree hugging, sniveling nonsence for Amnesty International.

What is pathetic is that you would side with the comments of ducimucus. If the Americanism on this American based website that is hosted by and visited by primarily Americans is too profound for you, then take your Canadian ass out and quit your bitching.

In it's place.
Well, where the hell is the comment for the Iraqi child with his head blown off? Where is the EQUAL respect? where....

How do you expect to function in a warzone? You whine so much about the suffering you perceive from the TV news. I can't imagine you being functional on a real battlefield. What are you going to do when you get deployed on a NATO or UN mission under the command of an American? Are you going to do your duty or are you going to roll a grenade into his tent?

I disrespect showing any casualties of an event, without concent from the families involved. I do not agree with what the media showed on September 11th 2001, I respect the families, and grief for the lost people.
I fear people have forgotten that in 1941 on December 7th, a similar event happened in the United States of America. If you do not know the even, it is the day that the USA was brought strongly into WW2.
Those of you who say that there is no link between Iraq and Al-Quaeda, I pity you. We found a very well known terrorist, and high ranking member, by the name of Abu Abbas(sp). If any of you recall, cruise ship hijackings in the mid 80s. He was even captured, handed to the italians to punish him acordingly, and we find him in 2003, in, where, the non-terrorist harbouring country called Iraq.
Respect for what soldiers do in Iraq is a must, otherwise there is no other position, but as somewhat exaggerated "Gleeful dancing in the streets". Kingpin, in no way, shape or form, understands what this photo means, or any other photo of a dead person means. Honestly, it may be because he is from Russia, and his Facist government supports Iraq, via selling weapons, ammunition, and armorment, such as Anti-tank missles, and anti-aircraft missles, namely the SA-7. IF we were are war with Russia, for any reason, and I saw a picture of a dead russian soldier, I would like to know more about what he did, his rank, name, job, how he died, and the families opinion. I think it is disrespectful for anyone, anywhere, to show pictures of the dead without information on thier role in the world.
It is disrespectful, and nobody can argue that point awry. It doesn't matter that I am an American, and it doesn't matter that I have my opinion, but I do have respect for the dead, and I respect other people's opinions. I hate seeing dead Iraqis, I don't like seeing dead civilians. All I, and I belive I am speaking for most people in the world, want is some respect for my opinion, and respect for what I belive in.
I do not agree with spreading "Democracy", as our(USA) government isn't even a democracy! I belive we should institute a type of government, to acomidate for each countries specific needs, with natural rights, Life, Libery, and Property. Its an older saying then America. Early 1600s in fact. I do not agree with a lot of things that go on in my country, or even my state or city. In fact I greatly disagree with MANY of the things that go on, but change is possible, and I do not fear much, untill someon like my state's former Govener, Gray Davis, wants to allow anyone from anywhere, with any background, to come to California, buy guns, get drivers licences, vote, and live here without a green card. That scares me, and in a long way, it goes to respect. And lack of respect is what the photo shows.
The poster should remove the photo, or even better, find out the names of the two dead soldiers, and procure a thread with photos of them, information about thier life, and what they died for, and not what the poster thinks they died for. It is disrespectful, and, honestly, stupid, to display photos of anyone dead, or injured, without concent of them, or thier family, whichever need be.
Respect the families of the fallen, respect yourself, others, and the requests of those closest to the fallen.

I was waiting to see if American government could show us hard proof of those allegations. So far, we haven't seen any.

Oh no Graphic nature! I saw these pictures on CNN for god sake and they didn't warn me about it...and I didn't care! you're all military nuts so you shouldn't squirm when you see a dead body. American or not.

It's a site which is run by americans and most of the posters here are americans. Of course most of the people here are going to be upset over the photo.
I bet the same **** happened on iraqi run forums, with iraq supporters, when uday and the other brother's photos/stills were shown.
I just find it strange that alot of people support the killing of other people who are of a different culture/religion/nationality/whatever but when the shoe is on the other foot, you watch them cringe when they see their countryman's dead body. This is not directed at americans or australians or europeans, it is directed at any person who has more than a passing interest with the military.
With all the mix of races/religions/whatever here on this board, it is quite easy to post something that will offend someone if not a majority of members.
There's no shoe on the other foot here. I don't allow dead people photos of ANY race or nationality here in a direct link image. Why is that so hard to understand?

I wouldn't call it a lack of censoring, I'd call it exploiting it by showing it constantly on news networks like Al-Jazeera for hours and hours at a time. Who in their right mind would want to constantly watch mutilated and dead people all the time?

People die its a fact of life. People like to take pictures of people dead or in bad situations. For example 5 years ago my house burned down, who showed up the local press. They started taking pictures, I beat the buddy out and the firedepartment had to come and remove me from the whole situation. The cops laughed at the camera man, he got what he deserved. Point being people will take pictures of anything even if its the misery of others, I never seen the pictures in the paper nor a report on my house burning down.
Is the picture bad? Sure it is, but it doesnt prevent people from seeing it if they really want to. Also I've seen pictures of non-Americans and Iraqi's dead on this site also, if ya dont wanna see it dont go into posts like this.

Or if it was an egyptian soldier or whatever.
The point is, you only get pussy when it's your own soldiers who get killed and shown pictures of.
Not when middle eastern guys get blown to bits. I recall a month back, someone posted a pic of a tablian soldier who had been hit in the head by a .50 cal. You remember what you said? Most of you said "wow that spoiled my dinner"
