It does seem like a 81; however, it still depend on the model, as I recall that there are both automatic and semi-automatic versions. But nevertheless it still seems to be in widespread service across the PLA, though the one I got my hands on was semi-automatic only (though it didn't really belong to an infantry unit, but rather an AAA unit).

Anyways, some interesting images there, AK. The last image on the third last post was exceptionally interesting (the one with the four soldiers), as each of them has a patch that reads "Special Forces". With some of the images however they do seem a bit "1990s-ish", as the new rank insignia for enlisted troops within the PLA now also incorporates a star.

I understand your point and partially agree with the second paragraph, but saying that it is simply a "copy cat", in this case, is a great exaggeration. Would you call MARPAT or CADPAT a "copy cat" just because patterned camoflauge were used during and before WWII?

"Patron saint" has specific meaning in English. I am not sure if you're aware of it. But if you didn't and looked it up, I am sure you would realize why the company picked that name. It's very appropriate for the product they make.

It would make no sense for a company to derive one part of its name from one language and the other part from another language.

Man, some of you guys. Although I find some of the comments funny, I do not find, it in the lest respectful to our Mainland Chinese members. They are not Controlling the Country, or its direction, they are not filling the forum with Communist Chinese propaganda. They have pride in their country, and in the military. Something I require from anyone that I respect.

As to coping things. Mainland China makes Jeeps for the Asian market under copyrights from Jeep. International laws for copies rights are enforce on all countries with international markets. The world has very few issues with Mainland China, and some issues with Free China over copyrights. Both countries may not export some items because of some of the items in the products (You may not use a Apple chip inside of a computer unless it is from Apple, but it is used in other products like Cisco routers).

Please people try and tone down the comments.

Non of my equipment ever said made in china on it.

My uniforms where all made in the US.
The boot made in South Korea
The Belts made in Free China, along with the Buckles.
The only thing that was rumored to have been made in Mainland China was the colored hats.

The helmets that I used all came from a company here in the US. Of course just about everyone now has those kind of helmets, but the US troops now have that ugly new one with the flat front, and poorly fitting camouflaged helmet cover.

Fisrt of all RPG's I believed was developed by the Russians or even evolved from the Germans (Panzefaust) so it is somehow not from China.

Paper? Paper were developed by the Egyptians (Papyrus). China has just have vast of woods to make paper and export to the world in low prices.

You pay for a new helmet, and once I have the money, I will take my helmet out, shoot it, making a movie of the whole thing.

Hell I will even shoot it with 9x19, 9mm short, old 55 grain 5.56, new 63 grain 5.56, 7.62x39, Nato 7.62, 40cal, 357, 45 acp, and even 38+ if you wish. Upload the film, once you down load it, its yours.

Hell for shipping I will ship the used helmet to you. Of course if you would like it shot with some other kind of round, or ammo brand, that will cost more (other kinds of bullets I have, but those are only Calibers I can shoot with my stuff).

More then a few people in, or that have been in the Gulf, and Afghanistan have been hit, in the helmet, and CVC. If you spend the time you will find some of it.

Myself I would prefer not to get hit at all, but if I am going to get hit, I would much rather it was in the helmet, or body armor. Mark One skin, from what I has learned, and seen, just does not stand up that well to bullets.

The old steel helmets where designed to protect from fragmentation. But even they would sometimes not even do that, and or bounce off a bullet (Not a frontal shot).

When I have the time, I will post a TC holding his shot CVC, and a trooper that was shot in the Helmet. Just remind me in a later if you see nothing. One CVC pic is in with the lessons learn from Taskforce Abrams PowerPoint thing from this last Gulf War.

Modern kevlar helmet maybe able to bounce back some small calibre bullets if they are comming in low angles, but unless your helmet is lined up with 5 feet of kevlar and steel, there is no way it can stop a .50 cal round comming head on.
