Hey hey hey. Where is graphic disclaimer and links instead of pictures. I see a lot of dead bodies here!

Or may be it is ok because they non-US and nobody cares?

I watched it....

Probaly the best piece of the Iraq War ever shown on television.

It has both sides of the story.

The worst part of the documentry is when they are in the IRaqi hospitals. Its just really sad and it shows that war isnt worth it.

There's also footage of the Kurds that were hit by a missle in Northern Iraq, that part is very bloody.

There was footage of when the US MILITARY was still taking Baghdad, there were 3 OBJECTIVES, MO, LARRY and CURLY. The footage that was shown was of OBJ CURLY. The most surprising thing that what was told about this is that an ARMY BATTALION CHAPLAIN had taken arms and joined in the fight with his soldiers. I was shocked....im having a very hard time understanding what must have convinced him to fight, but of coarse I wasnt there....so i probaly will never understand from a Chaplains point of view. During OBJ CURLY there was one part where US ARMY MEDICS were carrying an injured IRAQi i believe...and while doing this there was an IRAQI pretending to be dead and he quickly rose up grabing his AK-47, but before he could get a round off you see a US ARMY soldier quickly put like 4 or 5 bullets in the IRAqi. Very interesting...

The best part of the whole documentry was the footage of the US MARINE CORP. Very dramatic...there was one part where a mortor bomb had landed like 15 feet away from the hummer and the camera man was filming it. You literly see the thing smack the ground. The reporter responds by saying "WOW".

It will be aired again on the 30th. I have an ATI TV tuner card. I'll do my best to record it, but the software is very unstable, it freezes often. There are no commercial breaks, so it's hard to record segments, but I'll try. If I do record it it, it will be pretty low resolution.

I also plan to purchase the documentary straight from CBC.

It was really interesting. They showed the first confrontation in the war, an HMMVM patrol spotted a soviet APC trying to hide behind a burm, so they shot it with a TOW.

There was also a Javelin failure, the Marine was unable to get it to work. A second Marine stepped up and fired, the resulting explosion was massive, not sure exactly what the target was.

There was some good footage of A10's dropping something, like cluster bombs.

And I think that stretcher scene that MaCV-SOG talked about, what I remember is the soldier on the stretch being carried out was the one who saw the Iraqi trying to rise, so he fired his shotgun from the stretcher.

The interesting/exciting footage is heavily balanced by the portayal of the casualties, both US and Iraqi.

Sounds good.. I sent an email to the address on their website to see if I could buy a copy, so we'll see how that goes.

Why not just record it on video and digitize it afterwards on a computer (ex. Adobe Premiere) in order to be able to convert into an internet-friendly media.

In this way it is also possible to edit together the interresting parts of that show.

I don't have a TV or a VCR, just a cable decoder card, plus I want the best quality possible ($20-30 is reasonable for me).

I'd recommend using snapstream along with your card. I've been using that for several years now and it does a great job.

If you do get a copy any chance i could get hold of a copy of it? Being British means we don't get interesting tv programs. Not having a tv means even if i did then i couldn't watch them.

Very very surprising, the minute he did that was the minute he was no longer a Man of the cloth, and became a combatant!!
Not sure about the ethics of this one,as he may have just made Chaplains legitimate targets in a wartime situation!!
as far as I know, and this maybe different for the USA,but chaplains/Padre's do not go through basic training like the grunts,it is against the principles,or ethics to do so!
Now can you imagine that he had to take a life, through violence, and shooting someone whether it be in war or not is exercising violence of some sort, what would his morality be then?.........very interesting indeed!
From my point as a non believer,it's all irrelevant!

Ok I cant remember if they were marines or soldiers at OBJ Curly...but I'll just say soldiers because of MacV.

First of all, they were carrying a soldier on a litter, not an iraqi...the wounded soldier saw a iraqi get up and he fired his shotty at him twice. Reason why chaplain had taken arms because their position was going to be runned over...makes sense to me.

I'm amazed that a Padre took up arms against the terms of Convention (I) for the Amelioration of the Condition of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the Field. Geneva, 12 August 1949.

First of all, I havn't seen the piece, so I am going by what has been said. If true the Padre forfeits all status as a protected person. In the UK armed forces, I have no doubt that he would be court martialed and dismissed.

Either fight back, or get your position overran and your watch comrades die...but luckily they had reinforcements come in time. p-)

Roger Rabbit

a un-armed combatant is exactly that. Problem with the Geneva Convention is that if your not in then the rules don't apply.

Amazing! This one allows me to run the TV window on my secondary monitor, ATI's crap couldn't leave the main monitor area, very annoying.... THANKS!

Looks like it will work well too, I'll record the program at good quality (WMV, full quality). It's gonna be about 550MB/30min though. :|

It is worth it considering how sad it would be in an American hospital after an anthrax attack.

Shocking no doubt about the Chaplain...yet a very interesting topic.

During WWII there was a Padre in the ROYAL HAMILTON LIGHT INFANTRY know as PADRE X. Believe or not this guy actually recieved the Victoria Cross because of his actions during the DIEPPE RAID.

For anybody wondering the Victoria Cross is the equivelent of a Medal of Honor.

Whats most interesting about this Padre who recieved the Victoria Cross is that the Padre didnt even take up arms. What he did during the raid was to get as many Canadian's back to the boats. During the raid he kept consistantly going back to save more lives. Finally at the end it took a Canadian Soldier to actually hold back the Padre in the landing craft to get back.
