Yep. It's one of the ways we're compiling ID databases in Iraq. It assists in tracking AIF amongst the detainees and enables the issuance of more secure identifications by reducing the ability of the same person to get multiple ID's. I know that all men entering Fallujah after it was taken had to go through such processing and were given ID cards that grant them access to Fallujah as residents. Having the processing also helps prevent insurgents from returning to the city because they don't want to get scanned or they fear they're already flagged as AIF in the database.

Give it a few years, and I think those retinal scans are gona be used in airports all over the world.
