I agree that SF seems to be loaded with Southern boys, but my experience is that there were always minorities in SF teams (at least the 7th SF teams that I worked with in SA). Just anectdotal.

Although, I have to admit that when I watched that Dutch docu. on SF teams in A-stan and hearing their accents, it brought back memories of just how heavily the SF is loaded with southerners (or at least it sure seemed that way).

I don't think it's just that there are a lot of southerners (and there are, of course, but that's the whole Army, not just SF) but you kind of develop an accent in the military. I know I did when I was in - I'm from Chicago but people thought I was from the Carolinas when I'd get back home.

I remember seeing a pic of an Asian guy in sf, I know of a black guy in there too. I think the reasons you see many southerners is because from what I have read they seem to have some sort of unseen natural advantage just from being from the south. But there is defiantly some sort of mixture. If you’re interested in the Special Forces, I recommend the book Masters of Chaos: The Secret History of the Special Forces.

I think you're correct. I was going to mention that most of the SF bases are in the South of the US. I too tended to pick up local accents of places deployed and stationed. But I knew that alot of guys were actually from Texas, Georgia, Mississippi, and definitely Florida.

Iraqi National Guard soldiers patrol the Haifa Street district in Baghdad, Iraq, Monday, April 11, 2005. Hundreds of U.S. and Iraqi forces launched their biggest Baghdad raid in recent weeks, moving on foot Monday through a central neighborhood and rounding up dozens of suspected insurgents, the military said. About 500 members of Iraq's police and army and a "couple hundred" American soldiers swept through buildings in the Rashid neighborhood, detaining 65 suspected militants, said Lt. Col. Clifford Kent of the U.S. Army's 3rd Infantry Division.(AP Photo/Jerome Delay)

Im thinking he might just not understand how America works, he probably doesnt speak alot of english either. IMHO, it doesnt look like he was up to no good, just crazy and or confused...

though i could be wrong... Look at that one guy that started himself on fire outside the whitehouse. Everyone thought he was just a lone crazy man but he ended up being a CIA informant wanting some kind of asylum in the US.

U.S. President George W. Bush hosts Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon at his Texas ranch on Monday to reaffirm U.S. support for an Israeli pullout from Gaza but will also raise concern about West Bank settlement growth. Bush's stated intention to bring up with Sharon a project still in its preliminary stages to expand the largest Jewish settlement in the occupied West Bank could inject a rare note of discord into the talks between the two allies.

Now, I didn't grow up on a Turnip farm, but those aren't grenades or MP5's.

I believe the pictures show the lethal weapons holstered and non-lethal ones being used ...

Hm, I don't see any flame in that post. It was designed to accentuate that detail in the picture. Any problems with that?

My point that anyone shooting at this gunman would likely hit anyone behind him too. As far as Iraqi's dying in Iraq? I think they are fighting with a comptetely false sense of what a modern military is and what their training and technology is capable of accomplishing. There was a suicide bomber who blew himself up in front of a bradley, and almont daily carbombs (often suicide) against heavily armored vehicles.
