Although I'm definately not a big fan of President Bush, I must admit him visiting the troops in Bagdad on thanksgiving day was one gutsy move. Hats off. :)

Damn, this thanksgiving-thing and me being away for one day has really messed with my senses.

indeed, he has some of the biggest balls around to pull that off...
It would be the equivalent of Bin Laden flying to New York city on the fourth of july.

Clever PR move? maybe...
brave? not really...

brave? not really...
You sure? WIth insurgents running around all over the place, troops getting attacked daily, it looked pretty brave to me. Gutsy, anyways.
hahaha

Pretty brave. I would be ****ting myself if the plane I was on flew anywhere over Iraq, especially after what happened to the DHL plane.

Then again, what kind of anti-missile system would Air Force One have ?

And a whole lot of Secret Service agents.

I agree with Ratamacue. There are probably a **** load of counter-measures. The government will never say what they are.
I am glad Bush took a visit to Iraq. Although I don't like him, this was a good idea for the troops. woot

doucebag,
The only stupid person here is you. Care to elaborate why is that a stupid move by Bush? It certainly doesn't hurt Bush on his next election and you called that stupid? Good old doucebag19 rofl

Kind of, except New York isn't crawling with a shed load of highly trained Al-Queada operaters and Bin Laden wouldn't have the advantage of air superiority and a camp of 6000 odd soldiers to visit. Also Iraqis don't celebrate thanksgiving, as far as I know, so it's hardly a national holiday there with the entire population out on the streets celebrating, hence it's not really comparable to the fourth of July.
Fairplay to the man though, good call, except for the reasons Royal has already mentioned in the other thread covering this. I also don't think you can call the man hugely courageous for carrying this out, i'm not putting him down i'm just saying that the risks involved weren't all that high.

AF1 is indeed equipped with Chaff and Flare, as well as ECM, and IR jamming equipment, amongst other things. Only people that know for sure whats on it is the flight crew, the pres, and the DOD.

Jack, thats a nice "Combat Infantry Badge" I see in your bottom left photo. You do realize that some people might be offended by someone wearing a combat badge they certainly did not earn.

Well... I'm no fan of Bush either...
I didn't like the reason he chose to go to war on, but I support the war.
BUT! Going to Iraq, and spaeking to the troops like that, the way he did, that deserves respect.
And I'm not even american, but the speach he held had me almost tearyyeyed...
Great move, both for PR and troop morale.

For the "peanut gallery" that say it was not a brave thing to do ought to reconsider.
How many of us visit Iraq to help with mess hall duties?
Of course, it is not as brave as charging through the beaches of Normandy.
The fact of the matter is that the most powerful man in the world decided to take time out of his insanely busy schedule to drop by and mingle with troops in a pretty dangerous enviroment.

This is getting good. You might have piled it on a LITTLE TOO deep this time. I thought you posted before that your National Guard? What National Guard unit fought in Operation Anaconda? I'll tell you - none. Maybe National Guard SF, but I don't think your stupid enough to try and pass yourself off as SF. Personally, I think this is a pile of horse****. If you guys want to put up with his adolenscent bull****, be my guest. My bet is that he about 15-16, living with his parents. What truely amazes is that it looks hes got at least some of you fooled!

It's the internet. But this is a stupid place to pretend you're Special Forces if you're not. I figure Jack is smart enough to know that. What's your beef with him besides the masturbating like a spider monkey thing?

Who? I just want to know why Jack and VA are feuding.
Look just because I think Sean Hannity is a frigging hack doesn't mean we have to play WWF on the front lawn. But come on over if you want when you're old enough to drink and we can put on the gloves and then have a beer.

If I'm not mistaken,Jack said he was with the NG now, considering OP Anaconda was well over a year ago then it is perfectly feasable for this to be 100% accurate.
Jack has also had run ins with 18C3V,who's a "retired" gentleman, with an SF history I believe ,unless I'm mixing up guys here.
If Jack was in Op Anaconda then it's easy enough to trace his parent unit I guess,as there were not that many units involved!!

Exactly, so what does an AKO account have to do with my ANSWERING MY QUESTION? Was this your proof? I called your bluff, now prove me wrong. Trust me, an AKO account does not prove combat expierence with the National Guard during Operation Anaconda. It also doesn't prove to me that you didn't get that "Combat Infantry Badge" from Ebay. I'll openly apologize if you prove me wrong. I'm man enough to do that. My money is on POSER.
