"From Fox News"
Wishing for 'a Million Mogadishus'
A professor at Columbia University in New York is publicly calling for the massacre of American troops in Iraq and praising as heroes those who kill them, reports Newsday.
In a six-hour "teach-in" at the college, Nicholas De Genova, an assistant professor of anthropology, said he would like to see "a million Mogadishus" -- a reference to the city in Somalia where 18 American soldiers were ambushed and killed in 1993.
"The only true heroes are those who find ways that help defeat the U.S. military," De Genova told the audience of about 3,000. "I personally would like to see a million Mogadishus."
The crowd was pretty much silent in response to the remark, but cheered loudly when he later said, "If we really believe that this war is criminal ... then we have to believe in the victory of the Iraqi people and the defeat of the U.S. war machine."
This is insane, I plan on e-mailing Columbia University I hope others do the same.

Yes I read that a couple of days ago and it put a reply to it on my webpage. This is what it read.....
Ok Mr. De Genova,
You are saying that white supremacists want IRAQI people freed?????? You are saying that people supporting troops, that are laying their life on the line, whom are made up of all religions, colors, nationalities, are white supremacists? Are you kidding me? I am a helpful person and I want to help you, I have come across this attitude with the help of Dennis Miller.
Look up in the dictionary "supremacists," it will say (s-prm-sst) n. One who believes that a certain group is or should be supreme. This means that "white supremacists" would mean white's would have to be superior to all others, so of course they would just love for the Iraqi ppl to be free!?!?!? Yeah and Columbia is a very educational college, which you've so gracefully shown to us. Good job!
While you have that dictionary open go ahead and look up "ignorant", now I'm sure you'll think this is an insult but it's not, read the definition. Lacking education or knowledge. Unaware or uninformed. The first thing that comes to mind is a child that doesn't know what is going on. IGNORANCY is how white supremacists groups are grown and formed, same as with your group. They are just uninformed about what is going on and want to put thier 2 cents in without thinking first. The expression, open mouth insert foot, is what first comes to mind. And by "your group" I mean ppl wanting to hurt U.S. Troops for doing their job, thinking that wouldn't retaliate more ppl to get the job done. See what I mean, not thinking things through, ignorant.
Our military that is made up of Muslim, Catholic, Christian, Jewish, Baptist, Buddhist, Morman, and many other religions. Our soldiers are also made up of African-American, Caucasion, Asian-American, Native American, Hispanic-American, and many other ethnic groups. THIS WOULD MEAN that white supremacists would be idiots which is very possible, if they did support the war for Iraqi Freedom. White supremacists don't want our soldiers coming home a hero that are of another race, and they damn sure don't want Iraqi ppl freed of the Reign of terror. I myself support the war and our troops and I AM NOT A WHITE SUPREMACISTS.
We're done with the dictionary now pull out your phone book, look up "Attorney" call and speak to one of them about getting your money back for LACK OF EDUCATION "ignorancy", from Columbia. While you're on the phone clear out your voice mail and start answering those phone calls instead of running from what you've done! And don't worry you aren't the only one that will have surrended to a news crew.

March 21: Iraqi soldiers wave white flags as they surrender to journalists outside the demilitarized zone in southern Iraq.
stumps, it's no use. most universities are the focus points for extreme liberalism. communism (which is what extreme liberalism really is) is a sham because it assumes we live in a perfect world. luckily when the students leave and join society in the workplace, their attitudes are tempered by reality and living around normal people.

Hood,
Buddy I know that Universities are like that but I can't sit idly by.
This is what I wrote to President Bollinger
Mr. President,
I was just checking FoxNews.com and read the comments by Prof. De Genova. I am deeply saddened by these comments. I was in Marine Boot Camp Oct 3-4, 1993 when the fire fight occurred in Somalia. Some of my friends went over with the 7th Marine Regiment to help evacuate the UN from that country after the Oct 3-4 events when the warlords continued to target UN personnel. When we went in to get Mohammad Aided it was in the hope that by eliminating him the country could be brought to some semblance of normalcy and therefore the mass starvation could be ended. Your Professor's comments not only fail to acknowledge the UN's part in that but as a Veteran are deeply painful. His comments go far and beyond the First Amendment Right. This Professor is using Freedom of Speech paid for in American blood to wish for more American blood to be spilled. I feel that your comments on this Professor do not go far enough. It is not un-patriotic to protest against our government, but to wish for the "Massacre" of young men and women some of whom might one day attend your college on their Gi Bill is reprehensible. As an American I ask that you take more drastic actions against this Professor, as a Veteran I demand it.
Respectfully,
David Parnell

If anyone else would like to write a respectful letter to the president asking for more drastic action on this pathetic professor here is the address.

Well I thought my reply was most respectful :D . They just interviewed a school official on his comments on fox news. They will not be firing him, he has the right to say whatever he wants because of Freedom of Speech, (like you couldn't see that one coming). He speaks in no way representing the college, even the news anchor told him "I wouldn't fire him, shun him instead." That's reality, I realize my reply wasn't meant to be respectful, respect is earned, "would like to see "a million Mogadishus" and "The only true heroes are those who find ways that help defeat the U.S. military" ARE NOT the way to earn respect in my eyes.

You could always try to find out who the big-name donors are to the college, and if any of them are veterans, you may send a letter to them, so that they can apply some pressure to the college--if the guy has tenure then he may not be fired, but there may be other ways of dealing with him.

Thought this was good for you to read after hearing your replies.
"Fired by America for telling the truth," the Daily Mirror said in a Page 1 headline.
"I am still in shock and awe at being fired," Arnett wrote for the newspaper, which is vehemently opposed to the war. "I report the truth of what is happening here in Baghdad and will not apologize for it."
NBC fired Arnett on Monday, angered that he had given an unauthorized interview with state-run Iraqi TV saying the American-led war effort initially failed because of Iraq's resistance.
The network said it got thousands of e-mails and phone calls protesting his remarks.
Arnett, speaking Monday on NBC's Today, said he wanted to apologize to the American people.
"I gave some personal observations, some analytical observations, which I don't think are out of line with what experts think," he said. "But clearly I misjudged the firestorm."
Arnett, who won a Pulitzer Prize reporting for The Associated Press in the Vietnam War, gained much of his prominence from covering the 1991 Gulf War for CNN.
I agree with you papabear, that's a great way to start.
As I'm sure many remember because it wasn't that long ago, CNN acted as Saddam Hussein's propaganda mouthpiece to the western world before the first Gulf War started. Arnett was with them at that point also. They would do almost anything just to be allowed to stay and continue reporting. Looks like nothing has changed.

CNN has changed! They were thrown out of slagdad for not favoring Iraqi opinion! I guess they learned there lesson! But this man needs to be put down some how! I notice that these professors have some king of adgenda, to make the little kids in college some how be rebellious toward the government that protects them and grants them freedoms such as education. To all soldiers, "God bless you on your journey into the abyss, for you may fall on the sand, but land on the fertile soil of the righteous land!"
Arry!

I notice that these professors have some king of adgenda, to make the little kids in college some how be rebellious toward the government that protects them and grants them freedoms such as education.
But isn't mistrust of government an American attitude, with roots that go all the way back to the Revolution and beyond, to the political philosophies of the 17th century which legitimated the Revolution?
Also, education per se is not a freedom, though some may claim a right to it. Secondly, if freedoms are something innate to us, then the government doesn't have the power to "grant" them to us--on the contrary, the government can only take them away, and that is the point of checks and balances--to prevent the government from becoming a tyrant and usurping liberty.
This isn't to say I agree with these principles, in fact I disagree with them, but this is how the "OS" of the government and the country should be understood.
